NO weekends,puhleaseee!

im tired of working weekends...anybody knows of a nursing job that requires no weekend but is still paying good?

thanks :)

Wouldn't it be great to have weekends fully staffed by weekend option RNs? Life would be wonderful! I hate working weekends!

We actually have that at our hospital. It gives those nurses who want to work weekends that option and allows others to work weekdays. It is called the WOW program, and nurses are paid pretty well. This year was the first year and I guess they have to see how it goes although I understand that it does have a lot of support by the nursing staff.

While I am not a nurse yet, I do work weekends (nights) and love it. Hopefully when I'm a nurse I can continue. Nothing is better than a Monday morning when you are driving home and everyone else is just starting their work week.

insurance work is good for "banker's hours"....case management, precertification, clincal coverage review, utilization review, chart auditing...

disease management is another option, though i hear the trend is toward offering services thru the weekend....

school nursing, physician's office nursing, clinic nursing, public health nursing, home health, private duty....

pharmaceutical rep, research nurse, nurse recruiting...

the possibilities are endless...i'm sure there are many other areas that i've overlooked....i haven't worked a weekend in 5 years, nor do i plan to do so ever again....

good luck to you!!!!!!

If you want to stay in bedside nursing, look around at hospitals that have weekend pay plans. If these pay plans are popular, you will not have to work many weekends at all.

I prefer weekends myself. Golf is cheaper and less crowded during the week days. Works for me.

I guess I never understood the "big deal" about weekends..just another day, really.

Unfortunately, where I work, you are either M-F or Sat/Sun. Sat/Sun gets the choice of 2 16's or 2 12's. M-F is 8 hrs No other options

I think it stinks, really. There are so many things that cannot be done on the weekends (Doctor/dentist/court/financial etc things) not to mention all the crowds, lines and traffic when trying to shop on the weekend.

the PLUS to working weekends is that administration, therapy, social worker, dr appts for residents, admissions don't happen on the weekend

Oh! and if you are a M-F person, you work every holiday that just happens to fall on M-F (let's see--this year: Memorial day, labor day, Thanksgiving, Christmas eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve) I was off July 4th cuz i don't work on Wednesdays

There should be a sharing of holidays no matter what day you normally work.

Also, part timers and PRN people have NO INCENTIVE to work holidays: they get NO extra pay. So all the holidays fall on the shoulders of the full timers
