welcome!!!! pay for days and no weekends or holidays really depends on geographic area and what it is you are doing. i work in a clinic and i am on the east coast, but i work no weekends or holidays and 8-430 with one late day per week to cover late patients. we all take turns. all the nurses are salaried, so there is no overtime, but you can also take a day off here and there without using any vacation time if you need to, or go to a dr, appointment, etc. unfortunately, i took a really big pay cut to go to the clinic, but it was because i moved from the other side of the country. if you want to e-mail me privately, i can tell you where i work and give you other info. welcome to allnurses!! it's a great forum!!! we tend to vent to one another about work, etc, but it is a great place just to meet other nurses and network and receive feedback, suggestions, etc.
:welcome:
dutchgirl is right, too. interventional radiology, specials can be really good so long as you don't have to do the weekend call thing.

a lot of it will depend on how pay structures work where you are
from my right pondian viewpoint - not working unsocial hours but satill wanting a good paypacket at the endof themonth - only one way to do it promotion into a specialist and/or management role
obviously for the left pondians without national terms and conditionsand payscales YMMV

Doctor's office, interventional radiology, school nurse, employee health nurse, OR - the hospital I do clinicals in has staff rotating on weekends and some on-call weekends, but they don't schedule regular staff on weekends.

Wouldn't it be great to have weekends fully staffed by weekend option RNs? Life would be wonderful! I hate working weekends!

I dont know yet but i think i'll like to be on weekend special after i must have gotten some experience but i dont know how it'll work out.I think if you dont want to work on weekends then Dr's clinic is the place for you.Why i like weekend is cos DH works mon-fri so if i work weekends then my baby can be taken care of by us instead of going to child care centers.

I preferred weekends, and the other RN charge had just adopted a little girl and preferred to work during the week. So we went to the manager and agreed to the schedule that fit us both. I did 12's on Fri/Sat/Sun, and she did 8's Mon-Thurs. It worked for over 2 years (she left the floor, I followed shortly thereafter).
We would adjust here and there to cover each other if something came up, but it worked out very well. Maybe you can work out something similar with one of your co-workers?
