Just because your brother didn't say anything you really should have checked yourself. Not worth cramming now so may as well practice questions and make sure you know the rationale to the ones you get wrong.
Should also say every BON have their own requirements and some last 3 months and others 12 months

I would say to go for it because you have nothing to lose. If you let the ATT expire, don't you have to go through the same process to apply again as if you had failed the nclex? If it were me, I would do at least 200 questions a day, read over the material of the areas I felt I was the weakest in and give it a shot.

Have to agree with Anna on this one, the test is your responsibility and not that of your brother's. And as mentioned already, there is a variation in the time that the ATT is good for depending on the state that you are testing for.
You may as well test, as you will be forfeiting payment for both the test as well as the licensure fees with the state that you registered for.
If you pass, then great; if you do not, then you will be more prepared for the next time.
But please, do not place blame on anyone else but yourself for not checking out the information or reading the actual ATT that was sent to you.
Best of luck on your exam.
