No Chemistry

Published

Hello,

Do anybody know of all schools where chemistry isn't required for RN-BSN and MSN-NP? I'm looking for online programs.

Thanks In Advance

Is that even possible??? I have a lady in my organic chem class who needs OC in order to get her BSN. (She already has her RN.)

Chem really isn't that bad. It takes time and practice!

I totally agree about Chemistry not being that bad. I looked all over for schools that didn't require Chemistry for an ADN, just to dance around not taking it. It was difficult, but I ended up loving it and making As in both! Inorganic Chemistry is more math-driven and Organic is a lot of memorization. I don't know how one could understand A & P without Chemistry, actually. So, after I decided to bite the bullet and take the Chemistry, it opened up more options, schoolwise. Good luck to you!

I had A's in both A&P I and A&P II. Beside A&P is totally diff. from Chemistry.

Oh, you'll be fine, then in whatever you do! A & P is definitely different than Chemistry, you are right about that. I found that, for me, the Chemistry helped explain the physiology aspect. But since you've already done so well in Anatomy, you'll be able to do well in just about anything!

Chem is a standard requirement, your not going to find a program that does not require atleast 8 credits of it. Sorry! I hate Chem too, infact I dropped it last semester. I know I'm going to eventually have to take it though.

Chem's such a basic requirement! Maybe not all BSN programs require Ochem-- you should limit your search to that. Some BSN programs just require 4 units of basic chem... and when I say basic, it's not even in-depth chem... and just ONE semester of it. I'm sure you can find a program that only requires one semester fairly easily.

Chem's a basic science fundamental... don't fear it too much. It may be difficult, but if you do your homework to pick out the best teacher in your school for basic chem, you'll most likely do fine. :D

I totally agree with you on how one could understand A&P without it. Even Microbiology requires a good deal of understanding of Chemistry.

The ADN programs around here only require Principles of Chemistry but ALL of the BSN programs (including LPN-BSN and RN-BSN) that I've seen require Chem 1, as a 5 hour class. If the issue is time or going to class, EduKan offers it online with a home lab (I've been checking in to that.)

Having Chem before A&P and Micro helps me deal better with the understanding of cellular metabolism, cell wall composition and other chemical processes like fermentation tests and the list could go on and on..... I think that's why I got A's

Do schools normally take online science classes with a lab? Do you know anyone who has taken Chemistry at Edukan?

Thanks

Some BSN programs are now allowing extra Bio credits in lieu of chemistry. I know this for sure on some of the Oregon programs, and maybe this is the case in some other states as well?
