Does anybody have any experience with NNAS? So far, I've read the site but it would be great to hear from people who have gone through the process :)

I am a UK registered nurse and was hoping to transfer my nursing qualification which is a diploma along with NHS experience to Canada. However I do have a degree in Podiatry obtained last year.... unsure what to do! As I am 47 years, visa applications have to be submitted before aged 50. Not a chance of understanding the very long process of numerous forms. Hadn't realised the process can take up to 2 years with no guarantee of my qualification being recognised or approved in nursing.

Which province are you looking at? There is no transfer of license just requirement to meet provincial college requirements. We haven't had many reply on NNAS experience. The few I have seen from UK nurses are not comparable to Canadian degree. Even if NNAS doesn't take long for most provinces the process is long and expensive

@maxxyuk suggest you apply to be assessed for equivalency to both RN and PN at the same time, it will save more time than if you apply for PN assessment after you find out your education is not comparable to a Canadian nursing degree.

I got a letter saying that I needed to apply to one of the schools certified by the CNO, present to them the letter that they gave me, and go from there. I didn't get any information about how long it would take
@tamiko, are you wondering to how long it will take to a complete the additional education?
Yes. I'm unsure of how long it will take and what's involved. I'm hoping its not an entire 4 year program that they are requiring
None of the programs are 4 years full-time. Look up the programs for IENs, some programs can be taken part-time and the length of time it takes to complete depends how many courses the student takes at one time. York university has a full-time program and it takes 20 months to complete. Many of the programs are competitive, it is in your best interest to apply to more than one.
