  1. Many of my results showed "not comparable" I only had one area that showed "somewhat comparable" but I was able to write the IENCAPS and passed which has ended up with me becoming registered with the CNO. I was educated in Ohio, with my BSN and the NNAS report showed that the education that I received wasn't up to par with Ontario standards (complete bs if you ask me) but it was a long process. I didn't get any comparable reports on mine but after taking the IENCAP test I was able to apply to the Ontario board
  2. I'm glad that the NNAS is finally undergoing review. I was shocked when I first got the report that my BSN education was considered "Not Comparable." My program was 4 years, I started clinicals in the hospital the second semester of my second year. Anyways, I got the good news that I passed the IENCAPS! So as much as I am unhappy with the currently system for assessing internationally educated nurses, I'm glad that I was able to pass. Hopefully for future applicants the system is better.
  3. RNAO best practice guidelines was on the list of things to study - i've been skimming through them. I think it's safe to say we should all be comfortable with therapeutic communication, abdominal assessments, mini mental status exams, substance abuse, respiratory assessments. I think just being comfortable doing focused assessments.
  4. Have you already written the nclex previously? My understanding is that if the NNAS report says comparable that you should be eligible to take the nclex
  5. I actually cannot PM users either. Hmm
  6. @Decchenn I would like that, however I'm currently in Texas working as an RN... Skype or email studying? i just heard that they released more study sessions, i an scheduled to write on the 14th of march, but I might go to the March 9th session because I've already booked my flight home... otherwise I'll have to buy another plane ticket and come back for the February review date...
  7. That's what I'm banking on. Especially because I'm currently residing in Texas and working as an RN here, I've requested time off to come back to Ontario to write the OSCE but I would like to take a prep course beforehand for obvious reasons. Has as anyone here taken the OSCE and can elaborate on the process/what to study. I feel pretty confident about the hands on section, but not sure what to be studying in terms of the actual test part...
  8. CARE told me to resubmit directly to CNO ... But if everyone is getting reevaluated anyways should I hold off on my IENCAPS?
  9. I submitted my application to touchstone and my status says "Ready for Exam" My first choice was March 14, do we get a confirmation for which one we got? I'd like to take the OSCE prep course, but as of right now there are no updated dates on the website.
  10. That's the IENCAPS?
  11. I've been following this thread for a while and I have previously spoken about my struggles with the NNAS as well as CNO. I was advised by CARE that I should resubmit all of my nursing syllabi to the CNO and ask them to reevaluate my case. The director from my nursing school also sent a letter to the CNO on my behalf, assuring them that the program that I got my nursing degree through was an accredited nursing program. This solicited an email from the CNO and Touchstone saying that I was eligible to take the IENCAPS. I've scheduled my exam for March, however I'd like to go to one of the workshops. This is especially difficult for me because I am currently working in Texas. (I'm a Canadian citizen, I just happened to do my nursing school in Ohio-passed the NCLEX, but NNAS told me my schooling was "Not Comparable") CARE were the ones that told me I needed to practice nursing somewhere because my "Safe practice" was going to expire because I have been out of school for 3 years. I'm interested in finding people who have successfully passed the IENCAPS and to hear about their experience with taking the test as well as the practical portion.
  12. @dishes I don't actually think that learning about the healthcare system is relevant to being competent enough to provide nursing care. @rashu I sent you an email. I had a very similar experience and the CARE organization was extremely helpful. This is their website : CARE Centre for Internationally Educated Nurses - Supporting Nurses Back into Practice I just accepted a job in the US to keep my "safe practice" up to date. It's very important to keep that because you will need to repeat school. To keep your safe practice current you have to have worked as an RN in the last three years or graduated from nursing school. Did you submit your NNAS report to the board yet?
  13. Sure is there a private messaging option?
  14. It's just brutal because I completed a 4 year BScN in the US, and I've passed the NCLEX, and they still won't give me my license here. Thanks for the insight. I'll take a look at programs for IEN
  15. Yes. I'm unsure of how long it will take and what's involved. I'm hoping its not an entire 4 year program that they are requiring
