NNAS experience?

Published

Does anybody have any experience with NNAS? So far, I've read the site but it would be great to hear from people who have gone through the process :)

CARE told me to resubmit directly to CNO ... But if everyone is getting reevaluated anyways should I hold off on my IENCAPS?

No, I wouldn't hold off on IENCAP. Because it is still very likely that after re-evaluation the CNO will ask you to complete the IENCAP. Then you will have to wait for an exam date and sometimes they don't post new dates for months...so that could hold you up unnecessarily. If they do re-evaluate you and say you do not need to take the IENCAP, they will get Touchstone to refund your registration fee. That's what they have been doing for everyone else who has been exempted recently.

If CARE said to resubmit directly to CNO then I'd trust that they are correct because they are experts in this...it's unfortunate though that nothing is consistent from one applicant to the next. CNO says they won't accept course info directly from nursing schools yet obviously they do or else CARE wouldn't suggest it...

Just keep checking the website for a HealthForce prep class. One will pop up. I hope.

That's what I'm banking on. Especially because I'm currently residing in Texas and working as an RN here, I've requested time off to come back to Ontario to write the OSCE but I would like to take a prep course beforehand for obvious reasons.

Has as anyone here taken the OSCE and can elaborate on the process/what to study. I feel pretty confident about the hands on section, but not sure what to be studying in terms of the actual test part...

What do you mean when you say "the actual test part"? Are you asking what to study for the IENCAP multiple choice exam? If so, review the following entry to practice competency domains; Professional Responsibility and Accountability, Service to the Public and Self-Regulation. To find information on the domains, look at the resources recommended for the jurisprudence exam on CNO's website.

Hi tamiko17, would you be interested in studying together for OSCE..? Lemme know.

Just wondering if anyone knows whether the IENCAP satisfies the education requirement. For example, if an applicant received "non comparable" on their NNAS Advisory Report, takes the IENCAP and gets the passing grade of at least 3.5 out of 5 in all areas, does the CNO count them as having met the education requirement? Or is it possible to ace the IENCAP and still not have met the education requirement? i'm preparing myself for every possibility after I do the IENCAP this winter. Thanks for any input.

I have searched on CNO a lot and I find it there is no clear cut YES to your answer. Its at CNO discretion as far as I found it.

@Decchenn I would like that, however I'm currently in Texas working as an RN... Skype or email studying?

i just heard that they released more study sessions, i an scheduled to write on the 14th of march, but I might go to the March 9th session because I've already booked my flight home... otherwise I'll have to buy another plane ticket and come back for the February review date...

@ tamiko17 .. m glad to hear that you are working as an RN in texas. Your work experience will definitely help you with OSCE. As for studying together, we can use any method of technology feasible for both of us. Can you pm me your email address so that I can contact you? I am not able to send private messages here.

I actually cannot PM users either. Hmm

I'm a British RN.

Applied to NNAS under RN category on 29/01/16 FINALLY got my advisory report 14/01/17 almost one full year later!

It says COMPARABLE for canadian RN!!!!!!!!

OVER THE MOON!!!!

I just sent the fees to CNO for my RN registration.... what happens next?? What happens if you got a comparable report?? Will I have to sit the IENCAP or can I skip that and go on to do NCLEX-RN and other law exam.

Thanks everyone

Have you already written the nclex previously? My understanding is that if the NNAS report says comparable that you should be eligible to take the nclex
