Hi everyone,
I am a registered nurse in the Philippines and now working as an Intensive Care Unit Nurse here in Saudi Arabia for almost two years.
I am planning to move my nursing career further in Ireland. I have paid the €350 assessment fee with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and the accounts department already provided me with a pin and advised me to wait for the delivery of my application pack.
The assessment fee was processed since April 17, 2015. I just wonder about how long it would take me to receive the application pack here in Saudi Arabia.
I hope that someone could help me. I'm so excited to process my application for Registration with NMBI.
Thanks.
yes, will update you guys from time to time. nakaka frustrate maghintay! haha@nursechaps08 thank you! what do you use to call them directly? From march one it will take 4-6 weeks before you receive it! I think your agency gave you the right advice of calling them to resend another pack on your respective agency in Ireland. Let us know their reply. :)
hi buknit,RN! wow, I can't imagine the agony of waiting for 4 solid months!! I'm on my first month but the anxiety builds up each day! haha I just want to ask where is your friend located? coz we visited the post office in Lawton and Quezon City but they didn't entertain us due to lack of tracking number. Is it really possible to search for the pack without the tracking number?Hi jernieann, my friend got her NMBI pack after almost 4 months. She even requested another packet to be sent. The packet arrived in the post February but they did not deliver it on time. She just found out this month when her father visited the post office and discovered the packet was sitting there since Feb 23.
Wow. That is one comprehensive timeline. Thank you for that! You are nearly there. :) Are you planning to find an employer in Ireland after the DL arrived?Hi. I haven't been here for a while, but might as well share my timelineDecember 31, 2016 - I sent my registration form overseas
January 4, 2017 - NMBI received my registration form
January 11, 2017 - NMBI credited the 350 euros to my bank
January 16, 2017 - My application pack arrived in the Philippines
(At this time, I didn't immediately able to gather the pack due to our post office's incompetent service. I went back and forth just to get my pack)
February 16, 2017 - I officially have my application pack
(NMBI immediately sends our application pack right after they credit the fee)
For weeks I've been requesting the needed documents left and right
February 22, 2017 - Application pack received by NMBI
(Photograph, Passport/Birth/IELTS were reflected; I included Name Change Docs as it was initially in the list of reqs however when it comes to my tracker Name Change Doc isn't reflected. NMBI said they received it but they don't need it on my case)
February 27, 2017 - Verification/CCPS received by NMBI
(I also had an issue with NMBI regarding my PRC CCPS. For a week, they were adamant for a separate good standing form from PRC but then I also respone strongly but nicely that a good standing form is already included in my CCPS form. When I called the next week, they already agree that there is no need for me to send another Good Standing)
March 1, 2017 - Employer's Reference received by NMBI
(On employer's reference, I have 4 years experience in nursing from March 2012-May 2016. By the time I sent my registration form to NMBI I was in a 4 month employment in BPO and so I decided not to mention anything about it. However, NMBI keep asking what I did from May 2016 until today. Hereon, I insist that I am not employed. I keep sending daily e-mail about it that they've been asking for a nonexistent event in my life) [They received my Employers Ref on March 1 but they had only called the institution after 20 days, March 20]
March 13, 2017 - School Transcript
March 29, 2017 - Status changed to ASSESSMENT from Review Pending
Yes, they really verify to the appropriate authorities. There are delays but they really double check. All in all, after they received last the requirement, it only took 2 weeks for me to reach the Assessment phase. I am still about to wait for the DL which I hope would only take weeks rather than months.
My entire application ranges from December 2016 to March 2017; and I am now on the waiting phase for my DL.
I hope everyone is doing okay. It takes a lot of money and time but let us stay strong.
Also do you know what they asked your previous employer when they called them?
Lastly you received your NMBI in record time! How did you do that? What did you tell the post office? Should we go to the main office in Manila?
Thank you in advance. :)
Hi Buknit! Hang in there. It's probably because they prefer the most current reference from your employer. Since, your latest exp is less than 12 months, they need the reference right after that. It is so red tape. I totally feel your frustration. The problem is with ex-employers who refuse to cooperate. I do wonder if employers' reference from nursing practice outside the hospital is accepted by NMBI (like private duty nurse, clinic nurse, school nurse, community nurse).
Hi psychebelle. I believe they do accept employer reference even if it is not a hospital based experience. I currently work in a clinical process outsourcing company and my job title is utilization review nurse. prior to that, i also used to work as nurse associate (precertification nurse) in a cpo company as well. last bedside experience was in 2010-2012. 2 of my latest employers from 2015 til present are office based job. Actually it was not stated in NMBI that experience as a nurse should be hospital based alone. However what they require is to have at least 12 months of experience as a Nurse. There are different nursing career specialties or fields and I believe NMBI is fully aware of it. :-)

Thanks for the enlightenment Buknit! My agency said that NMBI doesn't credit pdn or volunteer nurse experience, just paid staff nurse in a tertiary hospital. I'll probably ask reference from my private nurse employer here and not from KSA anymore (anyway, it's past one year already). Now, all I need to find is someone who can deposit money in Riyadh or Al Rahji bank for the CCPS Certificate of Good Standing thingy. Even then, the forms don't need to be submitted anymore.
Thanks again! All the best. Anyone here from Abba? Good luck to us, guys!

I agree with Buknit but I think PDNs, school nurse exp., etc. are credited as long as you are able to validate those experience. You must provide a reliable source that NMBI can check with. :)

I do actually have an employer. Luckily, I have an offer from St. Vincent University Hospital, and we're just waiting for my DL. I do also have a pending offer here from a local agency under DATHS. My next step now depends on my result of my application.
Based on my former head nurse, NMBI only verifies if my background is true. Just the basic, he said; such as length of stay and performance. That's the only information he divulge.
I didn't receive my NMBI in time. The pack arrived in my post office January 16 and they didn't immediately send it. It took me a month because I thought they will deliver it. After a month of waiting (Feb 16) that's when I decided to go to the post office and seek for it.
Also, looking at other people's NMBI timeline eases my anxiety so I'm sharing mine like Buknit. Thank you :)
yes, will update you guys from time to time. nakaka frustrate maghintay! haha@nursechaps08 thank you! what do you use to call them directly?
Based on experience, aside from waiting it really helps if we call nmbi or we initiate to find our packs and requirements. Have a contact with your local post office.. NMBI is only sending regular post so it has no tracking number. :)
