Hi everyone,
I am a registered nurse in the Philippines and now working as an Intensive Care Unit Nurse here in Saudi Arabia for almost two years.
I am planning to move my nursing career further in Ireland. I have paid the €350 assessment fee with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and the accounts department already provided me with a pin and advised me to wait for the delivery of my application pack.
The assessment fee was processed since April 17, 2015. I just wonder about how long it would take me to receive the application pack here in Saudi Arabia.
I hope that someone could help me. I'm so excited to process my application for Registration with NMBI.
Thanks.
Yes the chief nurse is the same as the director of nursing/nurse manager.
If you are not reporting to the chief nurse, (you are reporting to someone who is not a nurse, for instance, you are a nurse in the Radiology Department and you are directly reporting to the Chief Radiologic Technologist then he should explain why he/she is signing the form --OR IF-- you are a nurse in the Cardiovascular Laboratory and you are reporting to a cardio physician as the department head, then an explanation is also required from the physician).
Your chief nurse should sign the form.
How about head nurse to fill up form B? We have nurse director and nurse manager but I am not reporting directly to these higher nursing adminitrators. I only report to our head/charge nurse of the department. I am afraid nmbi will not accept my explanation because as what is stated on the form:I can only ask other person to sign if nurse director or manager is not available in my workplace
You are DIRECTLY reporting to your head/charge nurse but you are still ACCOUNTABLE to your chief nurse. A regular nurse INDIRECTLY reports to the chief nurse because only the head/charge nurse can DIRECTLY report to the chief nurse/nurse manager. Check your organizational chart. Does your head nurse report to your chief nurse? If yes, then the chief nurse should sign the form. If no, then the person who manages or supervises the entire department should sign the form. He/she must also provide an explanation why he/she is signing the form and not the chief nurse.
Hey Guys,
Newbie here. I was interviewed by an employer through NurseIreland and Serviecon a few months back but only passed the ielts last week. I am starting to process my NMBI application. I called my agency here in the Philippines (Serviecon) asking for the complete timeframe of the process from NMBI application to Visa and they told me that it will take about a year all in all. Is this true? I am now contemplating if I should pursue with Ireland or switch gears to probably New Zealand where processing can only take about 4-6 months. Some help answering my query guys?
Hi @Flipnidus. I was also interviewed by Serviecon and NurseIreland last August 14. NMBI application for registration really takes a year for the processing. If you have more questions, you can visit their website (Irish Nursing Board, An Bord Altranais). They also have their call center contact number there which can answer your queries faster.
Hi there, may I ask if I can also get the soft copy of the application pack? Here's my email address: [email protected]
I sent an email to chesham recruitment here in Manila. Still waiting for their response if my wife is qualified for the initial selection.
For the meantime, I am making some research with regards to the life of a nurse in Ireland.. Any info if Ireland allows family migration, with my wife being the primary applicant?
Thanks and may God bless us all☺ï¸

I am sure Ireland will have something that allows family to come with main applicant, not sure if you will be able to work but I would suggest searching Ireland's immigration website Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service Home Page
Hi @flipnidus!
I just raised your concern with my respective agency and I was told that 1 year is way too much and it depends on the applicant seeking registration with NMBI and where he/she is located. For example:
- it will take longer for applicants who are further away from Ireland as posting the documents and all will take much longer as compared to those applicants near the proximity of Ireland.
- it also depends on the applicant if he/she will move hastily in processing the forms from NMBI as well as the needed attachments.
I suggest that you go with an agency that is experienced in the field of registering and deploying nurses to Ireland (like what I did in my case). The agency that I am with was able to process a candidate way less than six months. The processing time is much less and more importantly it is more inexpensive as compared to the bridging program that you will have to undergo when applying for registration in New Zealand.

Hello everyone.
I just want to ask a question on form B section 2, the reference form.
Is Chief nurse is somehow can be likened to Director of nursing? or the Director of the Hospital Instead(which is not a nurse in the first place since he is a doctor)? just want to clear things out before filing it up. thank you.
