Good morning..I'm a new member here..I had been reading this site for quite sometime now...I find this site very useful as I'm planning to apply licensure in NM...I have some questions though, I hope someone would be kind enough to reply...
I have read in some threads that NM licensure renewal needs SSN, what happens to the license if the nurse fails to renew?
Retrogression is present here in th Philippines, so I'm expecting that if I pass NCLEX and IELTS, then apply for VisaScreen Certificate, be petitioned, then apply for green card now, my papers for immigration will be processed in year 2013 or 2014... and NM license expires every 2 years...
What happens if the my papers for immigration will be processed in year 2013 and I don't have an active license in NM?
Hi. I am a NewMEx licensed RN whose license has already expired due to the many inconsistencies of the NM BON. I faxed my application last June 2, 2009 but 2 weeks later got a snail mail from them asking me to re-send them my form because the printout of the second page of my renewal form was not clear. Is it my fault that their fax machine ran out of ink? Anyway, i resent them the form thru fax again, to which up to 2 weeks had passed and there was still no update on my status in the NM website. No transaction was made by the BON in my credit card. I called them several times but only got voice mails for every single contact in their directory. Whats the point of having a phone if you only answer it with voicemail? I am living in the Philippines and calling internationally does not come cheap.
And now my license has expired. I have no choice but to fedex them the renewal form and ticking the box for "renewing late: 200 dollars". I am very disappointed with how they handle such matters. It has been 2 days since their receipt of my renewal form (basing it on the FedEx website tracker), no update was made on the BON website re: my status.
What r ur thoughts regarding this? Anyone had the same experience? Thanks!
i renewed my license NM BON, i live here in florida i sent the form with complete info thru snail mail and after 3 weeks they sent me a blank form of the same paper,, very confusing,, i didnt know what i did wrong i even thought of sending another using the form they sent me and risking my credit card info again. i tried to call them but always end up on a voice mail. i emailed a NM BOM agent and she is the only one who responds to all my inquiry. if u want to follow it up i recommend u to use emial and contact me and I can pass on her name via pm however because of the numerous emails she gets she dosnt reply right away, give her 2 weeks to respond to ur email, and 6-8 weeks for the application to follow through. thats how long my papers went. hopes this help:wink2:

It might not have been that the fax machine ran out of ink. It could have been that the fax machine that you were using wasn't functioning properly. I had that happen to me, I was faxing something to another company, and they weren't receiving my faxes clearly. I had to resend several times, they changed the ink thinking it was the ink, but it wasn't it was something on my end. I had to contact tech support to come out and fix our machine, but it was our machine that wasn't functioning properly.
Anyway, since you did fax in your renewal form on time and as long as you have the printed report that your fax went through on time, you should contact the NM BRN and have them wave that fee since you did send it in on time. If you have the paper trail then you have that on your side. $200.00 is a lot of money to just dish out. Try to have it waved since you did turn it in on time. Good Luck
hi! i'm planning on renewing my license early. it'll expire in January of next year. i just read ur post bout ur problem with the delay and i guess i really should start processing for renewal. i just got a copy of the renewal application. im just wondering what else should i send the NM BON aside from the form? i should send them a copy of all the CE certificates i got, right?
i'm not sure if all the certificates i got online (most of em are free) are credited by the NM BON. would it be okay if i just send all of them to make sure i'll complete the total credited 30 hours of CEU?
thanks for ur response!
I would contact the NM BRN and ask them personally if the certificates you got will be sufficient. Don't just send them with your renewal assuming they will accept them. Also go to the website and look and see if they have a list of accredited CEU schools and see if the ones that you did will be ok to use. Most BRN have those links to accredited schools for their state. Does NM require you to have at least 8 hours paid work experience from renewal to renewal as a RN before they renew? I'm curious because I've heard some licensing bodys do require that, unsure if it applies to nursing.
does NM BON have a number (that actually works)? coz i've tried emailing them before countless of times for some clarification bout the CE sites i used.. they took forever to respond and when they did, none of it really answered my simple questions. it's kinda annoying. *sigh*
and with regard to the work experience.. i've read their requirements for renewal of RN license and i didn't come across that one. just the 30 hours CEU, fee and the SS number (which i think is not applicable if you've never left Philippines yet.. im not totally sure though).
anyone here who has recently successfully renewed their nursing license thru NM BON?
please help!

hi! i need help in renewing my license.. i've read a lot of threads about renewing by NM BON and i came across a lot of people having problems with it. My license is expiring january 2010. I'm planning on renewing it this month as soon as i find out how to exactly do it. I already have a copy of the renewal form. I also have a few (free) CEs certificates. i'm thinking of buying one online that's worth 30 hours already. i'm confused thought.. would it be okay if i just send all the CE certificates i've gotten aside from the one i'm planning on buying online? coz i'm not even sure if some of them are credited by NM BON. i tried contacting them to clarify if they'll accept the ones i got right now, but they're not responding. anyway, i just want to make sure if that's just okay coz i dont wanna mess my application up as much as possible.
and oh, what else should i do after i fill up the form? which is better with the mode of payment?
ur response would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Janel! No need to send them the certificates. Just make sure you complete the 30 contact hours ,and one thing I'm not sure about is, if they accept free CEUs. I just renewed my license last month, I took my CEU at netce.com its not expensive compared to other sites, but I never took free CEU, just making sure it will get approved by the BON because you paid for it. They have promos and packages there bsta make sure you complete the 30 hrs. Fill up the renewal form and don't leave space unanswered. If the question is not applicable for you, put N/A or none.
About the mode of payment, I paid mine at BDO using "bankdraft" but make sure you have an account there. Or I think any bank would do as long as you have an account. They know what bankdraft is all about. Address it to New Mexico BON, the address we can see on the upper portion of the renewal form. I think, I paid $5 for it.
In one envelope put the form and bankdraft (looks like cheque) cost $91 if I'm not mistaken that's the payment for renewing the license. I sent it to them through Philippine postal service, speed mail costs less than a thousand. Ask them the tracking number so that you can trace it through usps.com, and be informed if the BON received it or not. You can use other courrier if you want like LBC, DHL, etc.
Mine got renewed after 3 weeks when I checked my license number at BON website. Thank God I encountered no problems with it... If you have questions feel free to ask.. God bless and good luck....

have you emailed and ask if its ok to send the renewal form via facsmile? if so it would be ok for you to send it and the payment will be deducted to your card upon confirmation on their office, hopefully if they process your renewal on the same day it would reflect on your bank statement the fee you paid since major credit cards are internationally monitored.
regarding about the primary state of residence, write in your real primary location, if you're in the Philippines just write Manila Philippines. its understandable that you're intending to practice in New Mexico but your papers are still on the process.
And if you plan to work in Florida but still in the Phil, just put New Mexico in the last part. Just like in my case, since im in Florida right now and planning to work here in the future i still put New Mexico and Florida on that part as my intended states to work for in the future.
Hope this help. if you have more question email me
coz i think we have the same case. :heartbeat
