Good morning..I'm a new member here..I had been reading this site for quite sometime now...I find this site very useful as I'm planning to apply licensure in NM...I have some questions though, I hope someone would be kind enough to reply...
I have read in some threads that NM licensure renewal needs SSN, what happens to the license if the nurse fails to renew?
Retrogression is present here in th Philippines, so I'm expecting that if I pass NCLEX and IELTS, then apply for VisaScreen Certificate, be petitioned, then apply for green card now, my papers for immigration will be processed in year 2013 or 2014... and NM license expires every 2 years...
What happens if the my papers for immigration will be processed in year 2013 and I don't have an active license in NM?

To hyveth,
I, too, am registered as an RN in NM. I have E-mailed the NM BON regarding your concern before, because just like you, I, too, was worried I might not be able to renew my NM license without an SSN. The NM BON replied, and their instruction to me was to just go on and renew my license as per their procedures and requirements for license renewal. (You can check their website for these things.) They told me to just leave the field for the SSN on the application form blank, and that they will renew my license even without an SSN. What they are more concerned about is the 30 Contact Hours required for license renewal. They advised me not to send in the signed renewal application form unless I have truly complied the 30 Contact Hour requirement. Filing your license renewal form without actually complying with the CEU requirement would be tantamount to Falsification of public documents, since signing the license renewal from is an attestation of complying with the NM requirements for renewal of licensure (i.e, CEU's). If by chance, the BON decides to audit you (the RNs subject for audit is chosen at random), and you have no certificate of completion of 30 Contact Hours to show the BON, your license will be revoked. Furthermore, you might have trouble getting into the US because falsification of public documents is serious. I'm not pretending to be an expert in this matter. I have no experience in renewing my license yet, either, because it won't be expiring any time soon. I really don't know much, except for what I had been told in response to my E-mail to the NM BON. I'm just sharing it with you and the rest of the readers. I suggest you make inquiries directly to them yourself if you have further questions. They do reply to queries, you know. I hope this helps.
thanks a lot cody banks...ill be going to my school tomorrow to request for my TOR as well as my RLE...hope I can get as lucky as you and pass NCLEX...:mnnnrsngrk:

They currently release a license when one passes the NCLEX exam without a SSN#. But that does not mean that they are going to always be doing that.
One can obtain the required CEUs on-line when they are in another country, the hours just need to be approved by the BON for NM. Much as already been written on this topic.

Thanks so much suzanne for that information. Do you happen to know what are the websites that offers CEUs on-line and are approved by the BON for NM? thanks so much=)

HI!
has anyone heard of WILDIRIS site? i've earned two certificates from that site but i have no idea if NEW MEXICO BON would recognize it for my CEUs for my license renewal. Are seminars/trainings here in Philippines approved for the CEU completion? such as ACLS/BLS, airway management, and even the IV Therapy training? i have those training but im not sure if those are counted. my ACLS, BLS, Airway management and Pharmacology training was conducted here in PHilippines, however it was conducted by the AMERICAN HEART'S ASSOCIATION group. so, i'm really now sure if that association is approved either by the NM BON.
just to make sure, i'll just try and find a site that would give free CEUs and try to complete the 30 contact hours that way. does anyone here know any sites?
thank you so much. your response would be greatly appreciated.

It needs to be recognised in the US so may find anything outside like IV training isn't recognised. Best thing to do is check on the BON website and see what they will accept or alternatively contact them and ask them
oh ok. thanks silverdragon :)
hi, i went to nm bon site and i seem to have some troubles finding their CONTACT US link. can anyone send the url/link for that please? thank you so much for your help.
