I took my test on 1/27....I read on here some people are getting their results back in 12 days...well that's today. Does anyone who took their test that day have theirs back? How about those of you that took it just before then...are your results back yet?

I was fine this morning until I looked out my window and saw the mailbox. Then it hit me. Now I'm a NERVOUS NERVOUS NERVOUS wreck!!

Alrighty...hmmm. Well I'll be waiting on the mail truck.

help me i dont know what school to go to after the nln

my suggestion is too post a fresh thread in the forum instead of this sticky, this sticky is for persons who want too know specific things about the NLN, too post their scores or ask questions about their scores. You need to start a new thread and be a little more specific about what your issue is and what schools you were planning on applying too. i think you will get a more responses if you do that.

i got in...took the test last thursday morning, the 7th, and got my nln letter in the mail today!! i'm so so excited...i start this august!!

PLEASE HELP!

Hi- I'm new here. I just made an account so I could post this question about my NLN RN test. I just got my scores at 4 o'clock, and I can't make heads or tails out of it. And of course, everyone at my college has gone home. So here I am, with my sores in front of me and I don't know what I got. All I know, is that I had to get at least a 50% percentile. Here are my results:

I will try to answer you the best I can

So

Think of your Composite percentile Score as your master percentile score.

it is broken down into the program types of Dipolma = DI and AD = Associates program

so you overall percentile score if you applied to a diploma program is 71 percentile

your overall percentile score if you applied to an ADN program is 66 percentile

I believe the ALL is both programs combined or maybe other program types i forget but that one would be the 67 percentile

SO I would say looking at your numbers that YES you have made the 50th percentile in the composite percentile score section.

The composite score of 109 is your master score (not to be confused with your composite percentile score aka master percentile score)

If your school decides to look at the individual sections then, the percentile given in these sections are specific each subject, it is not your composite percentile score aka master percentile score.

Verbal - you got 35 out of 60 questions right, for the diploma program that is equivalent to 58 percentile and for the ADN program that is equivalent to 46 percentile.

In this section for the Diploma program you made the 50th percentile on the verbal section

In this section for the ADN program you made below the 50th percentile on the verbal section

Math: you got 26 out of 40 questions right. For the diploma program it is equivalent to a 77 percentile and for the ADN program it is equivalent to a 68 percentile

For the Diploma program you are above the 50th percentile on the math section

For the ADN program you are above the 50th percentile on the math section

Science: you got 33 out of 60 questions right, in the Diploma program this is equivalent to a 64 percentile, and for the ADN program this is equivalent to a 52 percentile

For the Diploma program you made above the 50th percentile for the science section

For the ADN program you made the 50th percentile for the science section.

You should ask you school if they are focusing on the composite percentile score (your master composite score) or if they are focusing on the individual sections and expect you to get the 50 percentile or more on each section.

Ta-dah! After much web searching about what it all means, I figured out that my composite score of 141 (98 composite percentile) is GREAT! Thanks to all of you who previously posted and helped me sort out the scores and percentiles!

Advice to those yet to test: Get the NLN study guide - take notes in each section as you would for any other class, type up the notes and then start pouring through the practice test questions - over and over and test for time, too! A friend of mine also did this method a year ago with similar results! To tell you the truth, I expected the exam to be much tougher. The exam booklet's layout and larger circles to fill in on the answer sheet sure helped (although I'm did mess up and had to erase, erase, erase and re-write them in the right place again - ugh!)

Thanks again to all of you for boosting my confidence and satisfaction in achieving a better score than I thought I had. :smiley_aa

First off, congrats on such a great score!!!! That is very good!!!

Quick question for you. Now, I have been doing fine on the Math and Science portion (the last 2 tests, I got around a 93% on the Science and 88% on the math). It is the verbal portion I am having problems with...just can't seem to grasp what it is I should really be focusing on. I think I got a 77% this time (but my total % for all three sections for the Associates Degree is 85%, which isn't horrible). I am going to take this test again in August since I have nothing really to lose to try to increase that percentage.

I have a chance already with the 85%, but I would feel more comfortable with a bit of a higher score!

Now, you say take notes, but how do you take notes in the verbal section? There really are not any notes to take (maybe there are, but I can't think of any)! I do have flash cards that I made for the prefix/suffix/root portion (which I memorized, but they didn't seem to help in my opinion), but if you can give some assistance as to how specifically you study for the verbal portion, that would be great!

Anyone who has advice, please, share!!! :)

I studied mainly from the NLN study guide. However, the reading comprehension areas really gave me grief! The most useful part of the book was in the Verbal Content Review and its to approach each reading by: Scan the 1st sentence, one or two sentences of the beginning of the middle paragraph and then the last sentence. Often, by using this method, you can quickly pick up what the topic is about (or what would be the best title).

For the vocab, the area in the book where you break words down into roots and affixes, was helpful. Its funny, too, I also noticed that on the exam some provided answers did not fit into the reading. Additionally, I found that in the verbal section you will find "clues" - let's say you have four choices: Three of those choices are similar - one is different. Look back at what you read and then try to connect the odd one with the reading. You'll also find info about this in the study guide on pg 6 Test Taking Strategies. They mention how if two provided answers are similar, then chances are neither are correct! ANother one is if a word is used both the question and the option, that that is the clue that the option is correct. Additionally, I started studying right when classes got out in May, then two weeks before the exam I did about 3 hours a day. Finally, 3 days before the exam it was constant! Really! Of course, by then I practically had the book memorized..lol..

I applied these techniques when I took the exam - looks like we both took it at CLC on the same night. I didn't care for the proctors in my room - they chatted a lot and it was distracting. Anyway, I found that the study guide was tougher than the exam itself! But, oh...the feeling of relief when the exam is over! I wish you the best!

Thanks for your input. Yes, I think we did do it on the same night. I was with the first group in the first room.

Some of those things you mentioned I did apply this time...and yes, it did help bring my grade up I think. I will just keep plugging away at that section!!! Thanks again and hopefully I'll see you in the Spring!! I'll be in the night classes though as I work full-time.

What a relief to be done with this test!!

I took the NLN on August 9th, and I scored:

133 composite

93% composite percentile

I'm happy with that! The science on my test was extremely hard!! I got close to 20 wrong, but still scored at the 97%?? I couldn't believe that! I thought I was going to fail because of the science section!
