NJCU ABSN 2015

Published

The application for NJCU is open for both Wall and Jersey City! I thought I would make a thread for this years round of applicants. We can share our experience with NursingCAS and the HESI.

Hope y'all find this!

Guys don't stress. The program is great.

They don't cash the $500 check for weeks, make sure they end up applying it to your tuition some people had to call after getting tuition bills.

Enjoy the summer if you are going to Jersey City. No real reason to read beforehand. But if you want to, read the Fundamentals or Health Assessment book. They are the 2 main books 1st semester.

Ipad mini's are great they distract from studying :)

Congrats on your JC acceptance MurseM15 !

Wall orientation is this Thursday and I am so excited to meet everyone. We start classes on May 18th (:wideyed:) -- it's really starting to sink in (and freak me out!)

Thanks, ikhw12! Would you happen to know the specific name and author of books? I won't purchase until they tell me, but just want to check it out online. :)

Awesome, I didn't know about the ipad either lol. And my check hasn't been cashed either but I tracked it and it was received. I'm so excited. I have my friends fundamentals textbook so I'm gonna look over that. Can't be too different from what we'll be assigned.

Thanks everyone!

Yea I found out about the Ipad based on the 2014 thread. Apparently they used to get Ipod Touches in years prior. I wonder what the Ipad is for though. I wonder if there are specific apps for nursing and learning or its just a nice thing to have.

Enilrek, would you be able to tell me the name and author of the book? Thanks! And congrats on your acceptance!

No guarantees that they are using the same books or editions.

But we had the following books

Fundamentals of Nursing, 8th Edition Potter and Perry linked below.

Fundamentals of Nursing, 8e: 9780323079334: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com

and Jarvis Physical Examination & Health Assessment, 6th Edition for HA

Physical Examination and Health Assessment, 6th Edition: 0001437701515: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com

Bigwords.com is a great site to compare pricing on new, used, and rentals.

Has anyone checked out the isbn for the first book listed: 9781455702725

Hey everybody!

I was so discouraged to find out that I was wait listed, but today I got the acceptance email. Has anyone else that was wait listed gotten an email? The final deposit is next friday so ahhh stressed. For the ones that already put down their deposit, what happens next? Do you guys get a financial aid package with the list of classes? To be honest, I am trying to figure out the finance part of it.

Well my deposit still hasn't been cashed by NJCU. And no list of classes or financial package. I'm gonna complete the fafsa but I'm sure I'll end up taking out a private loan. But idk if I should even do any of that before orientation.

Yeah I started looking at private loans and loans for nursing students. The interest rates are higher, but lower than others. There are scholarships that may help like the AmeriCorp for Nurses. From what I understand, if you apply for this program you have to commit to 2 years or more of going to an area that is in high demand for nurses and it can be anywhere in the country. After you complete the 2 years, they will help you pay up to 60% of your student loans, which in my opinion is a sweet deal.

Yes, I was wait listed, but then they sent me an email that I was accepted! We did get information regarding fafsa and the list of classes. You can also check out NJClass for financial aid.
