Which hospitals hire new grads in the NICU with no previous experience. I will be graduating with a BSN in May and I really want to work in the NICU or PICU but I have no experience in either.

Look on indeed.com for "new grad residency NICU". Many of the large NICUs will hire new grads because they have an established orientation program (mine is 12 weeks at a large Level IV).

Here is some found on Indeed:

Don't be afraid to contact hospitals and ask if they don't specify if new grads are welcome or not. I am a new grad and am now 7 weeks into my NICU orientation at a level III NICU at a large teaching hospital. They do not specify anywhere on the website or application that new grads are welcome, but I found out they actually prefer new grads. Good luck!

If you don't mind me asking, which hospital is it? Your post gives me so much hope because even all the new grad positions I've been looking at are saying you need to precept in the NICU

Where do you live?

I'm in Chicago and there are quite a few hospitals here who hire new grads. In fact, most seem to PREFER us! Mostly because they don't have to ¨unteach¨ us. I just accepted a job at a large Level 3 NICU and start this month. Except for a couple of weeks working at a rehab center, I am a new grad nurse. The rehab nursing doesn't really count because I interviewed for the NICU position before I started there. The NICU nurse manager told me she wants more new nurses so she can train them specifically to the department.

Go for what you want!!! NICU's definitely want new grads in Chicago.

I work in Cleveland, Ohio. I will pm you :)

Hospitals in NJ and NY hire new grads in PICU and NICU. Most of my classmates got hired into both specialties.

We hired 7 in January (including me) and 6 more last month for NICU. They usually hire 5-7 every month and put the new hires through our NICU training classes, STABLE, NRP, and unit preceptorship.
