New Grad Starting NICU Position - So excited!

Specialties NICU

So I graduated July 30 and took my NCLEX Sept 24. After applying for 30+ positions in all of the different areas of Women and Children Services (and scoring only 2 interviews), I am happy to say I was just offered a FT NICU position at my DREAMMMM hospital. All I have to do is pass the drug test & physical, then it's time for paperwork! I am seriously so stoked.

My original graduation date was in May, but it was pushed back because I couldn't pass the Hesi Exit Exam. I never thought I would survive and it seemed like nothing was every going to go my way. Glad I was wrong!

Start date is Nov 2. This is all so surreal:yeah:

I'm not really posting this to ask any questions, I just wanted to share my good news haha. But if you have any words of wisdom, feel free to chime in ;)

congratulations! working in a NICU is my DREEEAM!!! i'm an LVN and i'm trying to go back to school to get my RN since NICUs generally don't hire LVNs here in Houston.

Congratulations! I am a new grad in a level 3 NICU and only started 2 months ago, there's so much to learn but I absolutely love my job!

I am in my last 5 months of nursing school and you have gone in the direct path I am dreaming of. I did clinical rotation in the NICU and fell in love. I wish you all the luck and hope to post my good luck news shortly.

BTW today was your start date; how was your first day?

Oh you must be so excited! I'm excited for you! I cannot wait to get finished with school!!:nurse:

Hey! Don't forget to keep a copy of your fire map. You have to turn it in every year.

Welcome to under the sea!

I saw all of you yesterday with the educator. Definitely very exciting!

Congratulations on landing a job in the NICU as a new grad! Working in the NICU has always been a dream of mine since day one. I myself recently landed a job in the NICU and I absolutely LOVE it! 💕 I've been a nurse for 2 years, 1 as a RN and 1 as an LPN, and let me tell you, working in the NICU is a BREATH OF FRESH AIR!! Lol. Anyway, welcome to the world of The Little People! 😊 🌈👶👶

Thanks for all the kind words everyone! Today started my 3rd week. It's all going great. Learning a lot but I still have a long way to go!

I'm also a new graduate that landed a position in an level lll NICU. I'm super excited but nervous. Nursing School barely touches on the subject of neonatal care.

Congratulations to each of you as you begin your careers as NICU nurses! There is so much to learn and you'll make it by taking every opportunity to ask questions, read articles, join professional organizations (ANN, NANN or both) and challenging yourself. It can be overwhelming but the rewards are many! I found my DREAM JOB in 1981, realized very quickly it was my passion and 34 years later, I'm still in the same Level IV NICU! The time has flown by. Babies I cared for have children of their own! I love to see these sweet babies and their grateful parents when they come back for a visit. To know I made a difference in their lives . . . So blessed!
