what's the next step after i fail my nclex?

Published

i took my test last january 09. and really empathizes with that feeling as to how everyone felt that nerve-racking experience after taking the test..the anticipation for the result was crazy..

at first i was very positive and got actually excited..days passed by im beginning to be anxious..and the moment i got the answer..it was horrible. first line: we regret to inform you that you did not pass the test..that whole night i was crying.."a time to mourn" indeed yet the next day i woke myself up saying time to move on..and they are right..this is just a trial..now im writing this thread hoping someone would give me pieces of advise as to how to start preparing for my next test, this time as a re-taker.

previously, i was just on a "self-study mode" basically with the help of my saunders book and cd plus the free reviews, practice questions and recorded seminars i found online..this time im thinking to seek help from a review center..like attend class or whatever..can somebody recommend some reliable ones pls? i also want to know if saunders is really the best study guide or if there are other more effecient ones out there? coz honestly i found the practice questions in saunders pretty easy to undertsand especially when you get used to them..yet i'm not sure if it was a great help at all while im taking my exam..coz i got really confused and somehow their style is different and well obviously i failed..yet i know the blamed should not be on the study guide alone..im really at lost right now how to start all over, especially when it comes to what manner of studying techniques would i use to be better this time...so yeah, aside from praying and not stop trusting God, what's the next step after i fail my nclex? i hope joining this site will also help me...thank you so much for your time.God bless.

thanks it's so cool to hear from all of you, especially knowing how i feel. i have been doing some research and i am going to follow suzanna's tip, i bought the saunders 4th edition and am going to do it herway. thanks for the encouragement.

goodluck!! i just wish i could get suzzanne tip right now. she's pretty strict on how she sends it out. im just so darn impatient ;]

Just want to encourage you to not give up. Consider using Suzanne's plan which you can read about at the top of this forum and study as if you had never tested before. Good luck.

I am confused about what the next step is too. Do you have to have a second background check completed?

Depends if time has lapsed from your first application. For most who failed and then wait the time for ATT then generally no you do not need further checks done it is just a case of meeting requirements and pay any fees

Just because the first attempt was unsuccessful does not mean you will not be a great nurse! I failed the NCLEX the first time ( I went in with everything riding on passing .. loosing my house and cars and failed.). I took the NCLEX for the LPN a couple months later and passed, I waited a few more months when I had nothing to lose, retook the RN NCLEX and PASSED!!!

I just signed up for my 2nd attempt. I did not need to reapply, do another background check or anything else.. just wait the number of days necessary. It may be different in different states, and your college should know for sure the waiting period and any paperwork you may need to do.

Just do NOT give up!

I know exactly how frustrating things can be when you don't pass. I have taken the exam 3 times and haven't passed yet. I tried kaplan and it did help me a little bit but over all it wasn't that great and I wouldn't say that it is worth all the money that you have to pay. It may work for some people but not for me. Its great that you have faith in God because he does have a plan for all of us and we all will become nurses. We have made it this far and we will be successful. Just keep your head up and keep trying and have faith in yourself and God!! Best of Luck to you!!

I also did not pass NCLEX. It is frustrating. But the key is to find what works for you in regards to studying and give yourself enough time to study. I rushed it my first time. Took it like 3 weeks after graduation after self-studying. I wasnt ready and rushed myself. That is the best advice i can give. Dont give up! And good luck...

what is suzanna plan.

please can anyone tell me about suzanna plan.I am new here.
