Fortunately their state rules do not apply across the entire United States. Each state has their own regulation. I have found several who have an unlimited number of times in which you can retake the NCLEX. So get the info before you test or after you fail the first time, dont be uninformed like I was. Fortunately I will be sitting for the test in another state with less restrictions. :loveya:

I know someone who lives in NY and has taken it more than two times though.
Perhaps sat for it in New York and were licensed in another state. I would ask your friend how they did it because I was told something else by the board of nursing in New York yesterday. I will call them again, it would benefit me to get licensed with them.

I passed on third attempt with NY. I would re check again with them
What did you do different the third time?
Okay, I checked. They now tell me it is based on approval and it is a wait of 90 days for second time retakers.

NM recently instituted a limit. After three attempts the candidate has to take some sort of remedial course. Or so I understood from a friend now confronted with that situation.
I found the Saunders comprehensive book.
Would suggest you check out the student section especially the NCLEX forum much written there for support etc
Thank you Silverdragon102, will do.

Actually, NYS is one of the few States that DO allow excessive re-testing. By excessive, I mean more than 3 attempts. This has not changed.
There was a thread a few months ago that discussed this very thing: how many attempts is too many, what States require remediation or even repeats of nursing school after X number of failed attempts.
