Hi Everyone!
I landed an interview with NYP Queens for their ER department, I am very excited. I wanted to reach out here on Allnurses and see if anyone has any insight or experience into how their interviews or hiring process tends to work. Any feedback would be appreciated. I am currently enrolled in an online BSN program but have 9 months experience as a Telemetry RN in a city hospital. I am hoping the lack of a BSN won't be too much of an issue- I was upfront about it on my resume when I applied. Thanks!

Congratulations! ??? I am currently searching for RN job in NY preferably Queens since I live in queens. I heard that NYP ONLY Interviews nurses with BSN. But since u have long years of experience, it adds up. Can you please share which program did u enroll for Rn to bsn degree? And also any hospital that hires new grad RN? Although I do have few years of LPN experiences. Thanks
Hi Happy Faces-
City hospitals will hire ADNs. It looks like NYP only hires RNs who have BSNs.I go to CUNY SPS for my BSN.

Is it hard and how soon can you finish? And do they need any clinical?

I started in January, I am half way through my first two classes. Every session is 8 weeks, and I take 2 classes every 8 week session. Usually it’s 3 discussion posts and 1 paper per week per class. It’s really not that bad. The papers are 2-3 pages and I think they grade generously. You definitely need to be good with APA or at least be familiar with the resources. I started in Jan and I’ll be done in October. They give you 70-80 credits just for the associates. It’s definitely worth looking into!

What do the hospitals look like right now in NYC? I have a friend screaming this is a hoax...

This is most definitely not a hoax. I am someone who often feels the media makes things much worse and highly exaggerates things. But trust me- this is not a hoax. I know it may seem that way if you live far away from where the cases are spiking. A basic rundown- Every unit in my hospital ( a public hospital in NYC) has turned into a covid unit except for some of the psych floors and L&D. This is the story at most hospitals. We are definitely running out of PPE all the time. Hospitals ARE running out of vents- I know that for a fact because it happened at my hospital the other day.
LOL. DEFINITELY NOT a hoax. I have no words. Most of the units have been converted to covid units, nurses are floating everywhere with no orientation no prior experience, most icus have been converted to covid icus, ppe runs dangerously low every day, the stress has been unmanageable, lots of my patients are nurses NPs, MDs, people are dying, NYC is a war zone right now.

Exactly this- so many of my fellow staff are sick.

Hi! Does anyone know how NYP’s HR phone interview goes about? What questions do they ask?
