New York Presbyterian/Columbia (NYP Email) New Grad

Published

I got an email yesterday from NYP/Columbia that I am selected as a "top candidate" and can skip the meet and greet and go to an interview with Nurse Leaders in June. Has anyone else received this now or in the past and could provide advice? I know the process is long being hired at such a premier hospital. Just wondering if anyone could give me some insight.

Thank you!

Hi, I am still in the future consideration pool from Jan. From what I hear, it may take awhile before they have any openings for new grads in the future consideration pool. I started looking into other new grad programs. There are a few in NJ.

Thanks for replying. Good for you, so basically u will take the other opportunities? Do you think i can be a year?

I have heard that some people have waited over a year. I already have been accepted in an FNP program so I need one year of RN experience by Sept 2017 so I can't wait anymore. I just interviewed for a new grad internship last Tuesday at St. Peters University Hospital, within two days they offered me a position on their oncology unit.

Wow!!!Over a year?omg.Congrads on your job!!!!i applied for few new grads position online and did not get it, simply have rejected without seeing me and talking Congrads to you!!!

Try Newark Beth Israel and Hackensack Medical Center in NJ, they have new grad positions. I personally feel hospitals in NJ are more open to new grads than NYC.

Thank you so much for the information.Have to figure out my way to my nursing job, ah.Thanks so much!

Specializes in Pediatrics, Critical Care.

Yeah, I heard the new grad event for Columbia was today. Didn't get an offer but another opportunity best suited for me came up so it all worked out!! :)

Good for you!offer outside nyp?

I applied as a new grad and received a tentative offer in PICU. I was told the next residency that has openings won't begin until September, which is too long for me not to have an income, so I've accepted an offer at Sloan Kettering instead. Good luck to everyone. Seems like a slow process but if you have time to wait, then do so!

Did you have an experience in order to get to the Sloan Kettering?i have never seen any new grads opening there?HR at NYP said about September residency?

Is that the typical time you hear back from Columbia because I went to the Open House for Experience Nurses on Monday May 3rd and still has not heard anything.

Hi ! How did you apply to Sloan kettering? I do not see any positions open and I really would love to work in NYC (especially in oncology)! I went to the new grad event at NYP on Wed 4/27 and still havent heard so im really upset ;(
