New York Presbyterian/Columbia (NYP Email) New Grad

Published

I got an email yesterday from NYP/Columbia that I am selected as a "top candidate" and can skip the meet and greet and go to an interview with Nurse Leaders in June. Has anyone else received this now or in the past and could provide advice? I know the process is long being hired at such a premier hospital. Just wondering if anyone could give me some insight.

Thank you!

I'm a new grad.... For NYP I don't know if it's the typical time or not. Maybe it differs depending on the department and if you're a new grad vs experienced. I don't know if others were told that timeframe or not but it's what my particular recruiter told me. Perhaps it will vary. I don't think anyone should be nervous or worried just yet - it's definitely still early if starting in September is the truth. As far as Sloan, it's difficult but not impossible. They have a new grad residency so they definitely do hire some new grads. I would suggest just keep looking on their site or network like crazy to get an inside connection

Thanks for the insight. Yeah I am a new grad. I actually graduate with my BSN this Saturday (May 7th). My application status for NYP has not changed since I went a week ago. And maybe I'll try the networking idea for Sloan. I've called a bunch of times and haven't gotten anywhere but it's good to know there is a little hope. Just keeping my fingers crossed :(

Please enjoy your graduation instead of stressing! I never check my application statuses, it'll drive you crazy. Be content with how you performed in your interview, or realize some things you can do differently for next time, and just wait for the call. Right now, just graduate and get ready for the NCLEX!! Stay positive and congratulations on graduating :)

Just out of curiosity, how was the new grad event at NYP? A few people from my school went but haven't heard back either. It seems like it might take at least a couple weeks since they had another event on Monday. Best of luck! I'm sure it'll work out :)

thank you! and yes very true haha it just would be a huge stress reliever to get a job! My dream is literally to work in Manhattan. But yeah I guess now there's nothing I can do but wait...

The new grad event was good! They took us in groups of 10 to a short presentation on the hospital and then we met with a recruiter one on one for about 15 minutes. To me it seemed like more of a general get to know the applicant and interests type thing but I'm really hoping I made a good impression. Let me know if any of your classmates hear back!!!

I just heard back from them last night that I'll be moving forward and they'll let me know of openings!!

Sorry to hear that...it seems NYP is extremely competitive. I'm sure you were very qualified for the position! Hang in there, more opportunities will come your way!
