New York Presbyterian/Columbia (NYP Email) New Grad

Published

I got an email yesterday from NYP/Columbia that I am selected as a "top candidate" and can skip the meet and greet and go to an interview with Nurse Leaders in June. Has anyone else received this now or in the past and could provide advice? I know the process is long being hired at such a premier hospital. Just wondering if anyone could give me some insight.

Thank you!

April?i attended in january 27th?

Does you application status still say future consideration? If so, since you attended back in January I would try calling HR or any of your contacts to ask about your status. That way, you can find out if you may still have a chance or should seek other opportunities.

Yes, still says future consideration. Probably, i should call them. Some people said that waiting time can be 6 months or more than a year.it is hard to be in this position

Yeah, that must be tough. I would definitely call them then and ask!

Hey! What exactly did your email say?

Hi, "Future consideration ". That is all, but in the email said that hiring process is unique and no time set .3 months already since my status had changed to "future...

Hi Everyone.

Does anyone have a pharmacology exam they can email me? ([email protected]) Or any suggestions as to where I can get one?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, useful info for whoever is interested in.Here is my story:applied for a nursing residency program in November 2015, got selected, went to Meet and Greet on January 27th 2016, got selected and granted a status " FUTURE CONSIDERATION ".Every single day checked my e-mail in hoping to get the news from NYP.Finally in June got an e-mail from them to be interviewed. Got so excited, was thinking about how things come to you if you work hard and you do everything possible to get your goal, how justice will come and knock on your door, all the pleasant feelings surrounded me.Went to the interview, the PCD was not there who i had the appointment with, i was sent to the other person.I was thinking ok, they know what they are doing.Had the interview, went well, in my opinion.I was told to wait 2 weeks for a result.Imagine, every single moment i was literally inside of my e-mail box, i was"leaving" there .one day checked, said had the interview but not granted any status. In my opinion i had a conversation only, that is why was not given a status. In a week a had another interview, 5 or 7 min with PCD, saw IMMEDIATELY i will not be selected, not the favorite. After that got the e-mail that was not selected, bc they want someone with experience. Told it is very competitive(it was not a huge secret to me after 9 months of process ), they hire mostly internal candidates(not jealous guys, i would hire you first too) who are in progress of graduating from nursing school .Everything is fine, but only one thing bothers me:would be nice if i was told that info after at leat 3months.Maybe they should put on the web that they hire internal candidates, that the requirements 1 or so on years of experience. By the way, i am still in a pool of candidates, but probably the last from those who believed in "support to help transfer new grads to a professional field".In my opinion there is no such a residency program or they have to do some correction on the web that this is not ONLY for BSN candidates, but post the other requirements as well. They should not give hope for 9 months.I guess, i should start with moping the floor on any floor (no offence to any people, respect all the kinds of work), maybe then i get help in transition to a professional field.Huge disappointment, how new grads should get hired with no experience, why are so much dislike for us, feel sorry for everyone who are in same "FUTURE CONSIDERATION.!!!"Good luck guys!!!Hopefully one day the justice will knock on the door and the opportunity will give us a smile.

Hi! I was just wondering if anyone received an e-mail from NYP with a link to fill out the employment application. It said "A Talent Acquisition Consultant will review your employment application with you so take care by being complete and accurate" and didn't have an exact due date (it just said to complete it before going on the interview). I wasn't sure whether to list all of my clinical experience or just my paid jobs. I'm a new grad so I really don't have anything medical to list besides my clinicals. If someone could tell me what they did, it would greatly help! Good luck to everyone who will be interviewed!

Hey! You should list your previous job history whether it's medical or not. It's what they use later down the line when they do a background check. I didn't include any clinical sites on my application either. Good luck on your interview!

Thanks so much for your help!!

Has anyone gotten any interviews since the meet and greet or has seen a status change on their NYP Dashboard?

Hi! I haven't seen any updates on my NYP Dashboard. It still says "interview" for the meet & greet and I didn't notice any new positions being added. Did you hear back from anyone? Also I am nervous I missed the meet & greet part. After my interview I wasn't thinking and I just left. Was there another portion?? If so, did they make you sign in?
