I got an email yesterday from NYP/Columbia that I am selected as a "top candidate" and can skip the meet and greet and go to an interview with Nurse Leaders in June. Has anyone else received this now or in the past and could provide advice? I know the process is long being hired at such a premier hospital. Just wondering if anyone could give me some insight.
Thank you!
Asclepius86 I applied for the unit at Columbia. Do you know what the manager is seeking for in a nurse candidate for the unit? How do you like working at that unit?
I'm actually a float NA, so I go to all the units in the hospital. Unfortunately I don't know the transplant PCD (Patient Care Director, what NYP calls nurse managers), so I can't speak to what he/she is looking for. Interestingly, I worked on the transplant extension unit the last two days. As I'm sure you know Columbia is a major transplant center. I've never worked on the main transplant unit, but every time I walk through it, it seems very busy, and it's HUGE. The extension unit is much smaller, only 10 patients, but it's been recently remodeled (they're slowly remodeling all the units of the hospital over the next several years), so everything is new. Since it's basically the same unit (both on the 9th floor, one on the hudson side of the hospital, the other on the garden side), nurses go between the two.
Hey @erinmRN, congrats on getting an interview. Would you mind sharing the recruiter's contact info that you talked to at [email protected]? I would really appreciate it! Good luck next week!
has anyone interviewed for the cardiothoracic ICU step-down at cornell and heard back?
I interviewed for that unit and I have not heard back yet. HR said it would take 1-2 weeks but I am hoping it will be sooner than that. I felt that my interview with cardiothoracic step-down well exceedingly well.
