Hello! I've been accepted into PSON AAS Program beginning Fall 2017 and its odd not to find any of my fellow classmates on this site :unsure:It would be nice to get familiar with one another before the program begins & update one another on how we are coming along in preparation of the program. Maybe even share some information from other threads as far as increasing our success in the program! The competition is finally over and we are officially a family Well, hope everyone enjoys their day and I'm excited to hear from my soon to be fellow classmates! Congratulations

Hi @Paris614, would you mind sharing your stats? Was it competitive? And just wondering, where did you take your math for medications course? I'm trying to locate a school to take that course as it is my only course left to take but can't seem to take it anywhere.. Would really appreciate your help! Thanks!

Hi @iamjessica ! I received a Cumulative grade of 84% on HESI I have an overall GPA of 3.3. It is very competitive as is every nursing school but it's appreciated that their criteria includes your entire portfolio rather than just your GPA and exam score.

I have not taken a math for medications course yet and I apologize but I don't have information on where else it can be taken.

Hi Paris614, I've also been accepted for Fall 2017. I'm so excited to finally meet a future classmate . I'm extremely anxious to begin the program. Have you been given any information about when our medical forms are due or an orientation date? Do you know how long our clinicals will be?

Hi Paris614 & arazo87

I was accepted into the fall 2017 class, I received my acceptance letter back in mid-April, I finally decided to stop lurking AN and make an account. Thanks for making the thread! I'm shocked such a thread hasn't been made earlier.

No idea how long our clinicals will be, but our orientation date is August 22nd and class starts on the 28th! An academic calendar was sent via email in late April. I could try to email it to you guys if you want. As for the medical forms, no emails have been sent out yet.

Hi @arazo87 !!! Thank you for responding! i have not been given any info on medical forms. I have received the orientation date Via academic calendar as @Von Hohenheim mentioned. I'm dying to get even a clue about how our schedules will be set up!

Hi! I'm soooooooo excited that I'm finally getting responses on this thread. I was beginning to check it like I use to check my emails for my acceptance letter. Haha! I took the HESI exam mid April and ended up receiving my acceptance letter on May 3rd! And just like you, I also decided to stop lurking and begin this thread. Lol now let's wait for the rest to come from behind the bushes haha

Haha!! hopefully this thread will take off like older threads! I remember a thread for a few years back where it spanned 60 pages.. hopefully we can beat that!

How is everyone preparing for the start of nursing school?

Im actually taking Microbiology right now and the course ends 7/27. A part of me wants to relax my body and brain for my last month of freedom but I doubt I can do that. I'm too excited/nervous and I can't seem to stop stalking and researching! I'd like to get my BLS certification out the way though.I also would like to get my bioethics out of the way too .. wondering if there's any options for that.... online perhaps? I really can't imagine sitting still for 4 weeks straight. If I had a book list, I'd probably like to read some material. I've already ordered my stethoscope tho haha. How do you feel about this new journey? Are you excited ?

Yes very excited :)

For your ethics course, you could try taking it online here at Cayuga CC, I would run the course by MG first (If you know her, can't list her name as it violates TOS, but wonderful woman if you haven't met her in person!), but it should be a pretty easy course. Good luck with Micro!.

I work as a PCA at Mount Sinai so I have the BLS covered (thankfully!). I am a second-degree student so have most of the pre-reqs covered, currently taking A&P 2 and will sadly have to take micro at the school next summer. You could try the Red Cross for BLS, takes about 5 hours and you'll have it done!

thank you very much. I'm going to definitely look into the ethics course because I'd much rather have it done before the fall. And you will be fine with Micro. Good luck with AP2.

Thank you! definitely keep me updated with how the ethics course turns out; will definitely be easier to have everything out of the way to just focus on the nursing courses alone. Hopefully this thread takes off. I wonder how large the class size is? have any idea? I didn't get a chance to ask when I visited.
