U.S.A. California

Anybody have any info on the new program at WCU? It's a straight BSN program with no LVN or pre reqs needed.

Well American Health Science Univ is just about the same price. I know someone who is going there right now and she said it is costing her about 80,000

Western Health Science University is also expensive but not as much. I am applying to their entry level masters for the Fall 2009 so we'll see. That school is like 5 min from where I'll be living so it works out great.

I like how you can get your RN the first year and then start working while working on your masters pt.

Sounds great! good luck.

HI!! did any of you end up going to WCU?? I'd like to know if it's going well.

Hi,

I would also be interested in hearing about anyone's experience at this school!

Hi. I enrolled and was approved for financial aid and private loans(with a co signer), I was set to go in Febuary

oops:doh:anyways ......after much thought, I decided I would rather not go into such deep debt at my age (51) aaannnddd THEY are not accredited:banghead: That WAS the deal breaker. I have decided to go out of state to get into a program.

I have never heard of a nursing program costing so much. Well if someone has a rich daddy :D

But they're a CCNE applicant right? How likely is it that they will actually receive that accreditation?

Same 2 reasons why I decided not to go.

Cost and accreditation.

Really nice people that work there and nice facility.

I wonder how long it would take for them to be accredited by the CCNE. I'm also wondering if there is somewhere to verify that they are actually applicants. Hmmm

On this same thread (on pg 2) someone left a link that takes you to CCNE pending applicants and WCU is listed :wink2: But when i talked to one of their representatives and tried to find out how confident he felt about getting said accreditation he wouldn't give me a straight answer other than to say they are being evaluated in April...

I just typed like a page prior to this and it got deleted so im going to keep it simple!:banghead:

LVN-$30,000

LVN to RN $ 60,000

Total 90,000

Time approx. 3 yrs.

Degree - Associates

Bachelors- $110,000

Time- 3yrs. 3 months

Almost the same time and money for a degree above. The way I look at it is it takes money to make money! There is no way due to an added "monthly payment" that me and my son wont be in a better position down the road!! :wink2:

Did you finish the program? I am in a dilemma that I can seem to make a decision. I also have a son and debating to attend WCU. I am finished with all of my prereqs so the cost will be little less maybe 90k not to mention grants, student loans, and being a single mom. I am all about investing in myself and education but then I heard 120k. Wow! Now that is something to think about. Did you have problems finding a job? How was their program? Do you recommend it? Did you learn a lot? Please advise!!
