hey guys, I took a position during covid and the unit was explained in the interview but when I started I did not expect what I found. It's med surg and I do more critical care. the scheduling is not what I expected and I know I will not be happy here. I could transfer in 6 months but just not sure I want to wait that long because I will not be guaranteed a PCU unit. I have another hospital looking at me but would you guys wait 6 months or give notice. I am not sure if I would burn a bridge with this hospital. this is very foreign for me because I do not job hope.

I think it depends on how long you've been working there already vs how much longer you have to wait to transfer. If you are still within the first 30 or 90 days, is there something you can talk to the manager/HR about? Is the unit completely different than what was presented in your interview? Or did things change unexpectedly to manage Covid? Like your unit transitioned to medsurg so other units could focus on Covid patients (and you would prefer to be with that patient type)?
I would make a written pro-con list to look at. I'd talk with my manager; if you would like to move to a more in-demand area (like switch onto a Covid floor and someone there wants to switch out; that could be a solution your manager could look at)?
Unless the attitude/environment was toxic/something like that, 6 months is not really that long in the BIG picture. Consider what having "one year of MedSurg experience" looks like on your resume vs 6 months, and you may not want to use them as a reference if you have "burned that bridge" by quitting too early.
Lots of posts on here reference that "the grass is NOT always greener," so look really hard before you make big changes that could affect you down the line.

Assuming you have a stable work history, I think you're fine to quickly move on. Just give the proper amount of notice, and be gracious for the "opportunity".
I'd probably mention that it wasn't quite what I was expecting if they really did misrepresent the unit.

If you give proper notice and leave on good terms, you will not burn a bridge. However, before you make the leap, what does "I have another hospital looking at me" mean? Are you simply scheduled for an interview, or have you been offered a position? Don't leave unless you have something solid lined up.
I been offered an ICU position versus a Med Surg position with another company. and a 15K bonus sign on that goes with it.

Be VERY, VERY cautious about facilities that offer such hefty sign-on bonuses!
Like why are they being so generous??? And do they have a contract that you must sign? It would specify a length of time you're REQUIRED to remain employed else you PAY BACK the bonus
Something I don't understand from your post. Do you WANT critical care level pts or not?
