Hello! I am only 33, but I do have alot of students over 40 that are either in the program, or finishing up the prereq's.

Good luck to you! I think it is so much more fun this time around than right out of high school. I am taking it much more serious and learning so much more.

welcome, lilly!

i am over 40 and in my 2nd semester clinical rotation of an rn program.

much success to each of us!

Hi kittylilly,

I am 44, just finished up all my pre req's and co-req's and submitted my application to a 2 year RN program, I am a single mom, a 21 year old and 14 year old twins, I also work 30 hours per week. I started off with 9 credits then steadily increased till I was at 17 credits last term.......if you ease into it and don't overwhelm yourself right from the start it isn't too bad........now the waiting game.....will know by 6-1-03 if I got in the program.

I am 37 (so close enough LOL) I am in the second semester of an evening weekend program with 19 students and almost half of us are between 37-52. It is tough for those who work FT and try to do this particular program (many have dropped to PT work) Good luck and have fun!

Hi, Lilly!

Welcome!

I'm 46 and awaiting admission to a nursing program for Fall '03--I should hear from my first choice school any day! (I've already been accepted by my second choice.) Married 20 years, three kids (9, 16, & 18), and have taught English inbetween raising kids.

My biggest complaint as I've worked through my pre-reqs: my vision! I so need reading glasses, which I didn't on my first go-round in college in the late 70s! Other than that, I got right back in the saddle.

Best of luck to you!

I did most of my classes with a woman in her 70s! She knew she never wanted to practice nursing, just wanted a nursing education for the sake of learning.

Good luck to all of you :D

Hi Lilly. I'm 46 and will be graduating in May. I've got 3 kids, ages 17, 15, and 12, one husband, a dog and a cat.

Hi Lilly,

I'm 46... started this journey 2 years ago. I had thought I was too old about 10 years ago and didn't want to waste the money on school. Then at 45 I realized that it was something that I was meant to do and I had better get to doing it. I love school! I have enjoyed all of my classes. I didn't dabble in school, but jumped in head first and have loved the experience.

Do I feel "OLD" in class? Not really... it feels right to be there. I went to a preview day for the university where I will transfer in the fall on Sat. The gal at the financial aid table asked if my son or daughter was a new student. No, I said, I'm the transferring student! She was embarrassed... but I was proud! I have waited too long and am glad to be actually doing this.

You aren't alone! Enjoy your journey!

Just wanted to say hi, 38 in June here! Good Luck to you.

Hello, welcome. I am 40 and scheduled to begin clincials in fall 2003.

I too enjoy hearing from others in my age who are going to be 2nd career RNs. Somedays I still wonder if I am doing the right thing, but will find out in the fall.

Good luck and hope to see you post often. This is a great place to get support.
