Hello everyone, I am starting school in August and my classes are A&P I, Math for health sciences, and then an Eng 101. I am a lil worried about the A&P because everyone has made it out to me a nightmare. I will not b working while in school and I have a 1 year old. Can anyone give me any tips for success. I did go buy mega index cards and the coloring book. I know I am going to have to study a lot but is there any specific ways that you can tip me on. Ty.

First, you should figure out which learning style fits you the best. I'm very visual, so I used flashcards. I really like Quizlet for anatomy. I would take pictures of models and make flashcards with them. I didn't find the coloring book to be super useful for me. But, I really wanted it to work because I like to color! :) If something isn't working, don't be afraid to change the way you do it. Sometimes a study buddy can be really helpful. If you start a study group try to keep it to 1 or 2 other people. Once the group is big, you don't tend to learn as much.

I don't retain info if its from a pre-made note card.

I search Google Images and Pintrest and found styles of cards people made that i like...

Then i make my own template in Word or Excel.

Print it out and fill it in OR type it out

Then i added notes or colored highlighters to categorize and study.

This stragety has worked for me for every class!!

Then you have it readily available for the NCLEX too!

There are plenty of tips available online. why don't you google?

It depends only on your attitude. Be active and hard-working and you'll deal with everything.

And remember that something that doesn't suit somebody can be just for you. Don't afraid to try!

I purchased models of a human skeleton and brain when I took my science prereqs, because my school did not provide lab study hours feasible for my schedule.

I listened to YouTube videos on the topics.... Like catchy r&b/hip hop/rap songs that helped me familiarize myself with the topics.

I utilized home made flash cards. I took pics of the microscope slides and the models and the actual dissections and Made those into flash cards.

I also Mage flash cards for definitions and the physiology of each body part.

When I took my 1st 2 science prereqs, I also made sure I discussed my efforts and exam results with the teacher, to gain more insight.

I also read my text book chapters multiple times. The goal was 4x, but I think I often only got to 3.

I posted pics and diagrams in my bathroom so that i could review them daily.

I led and organized study groups.

I explained the topics to my kids. Other classmates told me that they explained concepts to their pets or to their bedroom walls. If you can teach someone else, it helps you to learn.

I'm taking A&P I this coming semester as well and just finished Math for Allied Health Professionals. I *think* we are attending the same college, just different campuses. :) I'm nervous about A&P because it's been a long time since I've taken this type of class. As long as you have help with your little one, and time you can set aside to study, do homework, etc. you should be fine. Good luck!

I'm at the Owens campus. How was the math for health sciences. I am hoping to b able to get thru them with A's. I need the points.

I'm at the Stanton campus. It was informative and tough, of course I haven't had math in close to 20 years so for you it may be easier...lol. Take good notes, read and do the homework. Good luck! I know at our campus they are changing books this semester, not sure if it is at all campuses or not.

I am 40 years old. I haven't had math in over 20 years lol. I'm hoping it's not too tough. But I'm gonna give it my best shot. I got my books already. Just waiting to start. Good luck in A&P. I bought the coloring book. Hoping it helps me.
