New student - shoes

Hello there,

I'm starting nursing school in January and wondered if anyone had a recommendation for good shoes/clogs for clinical placements?

Requirement is dark shoes - either black or navy blue.

I've heard a lot about danskos?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks!

I agree with applesxoranges about the break in period. Leather stretches and eventually conforms to your foot. I found that my xp pros did not require as uncomfortable a break in period as the other pair.

I am clumsy by nature and have stumbled several times in my danskos.... Maybe less than one time per month.

The allgrias are softer and easier to "break in" indeed, there was no break in period.

I like Danskos and Sanitas personally, but try different things and see how they feel on YOUR feet. My clogs have held up well against the rigors of work, and they're easy to clean if something funky gets on them.

Alegrias are favorite, danskos 2nd, sanitas 3rd. No others compare...

I hated Danskos. I know a lot of nurses swear by them, but I never liked the feel of them plus they made my feet absolutely reek. I buy a really good pair of tennis shoes several times a year.

Are you allowed to wear clogs at your school? I know a lot of schools I've looked up don't allow clogs

As long as they have a covered heel they are fine. My danskos are considered clogs but have a heel on them.

It honestly depends on your feet. I have small, narrow feet so danskos work great fur me. It's why I also only wear nikes, as brands like adidas and reebok are too wide for me. My Danskos are awesome and save my legs and back. I also wear compression socks with them. I'm actually looking at getting the xp pros. The seem even more comfortable.
