Well it is the start of a new semester, thought this might be a way to meet other new NP students and potentially start some networking etc.
So I will kick it off:
I am an ACNP student at Duke. I have worked in the MICU pretty much my whole career.
When not in school mode enjoy getting far away from civilization and fishing or just hanging out with my friends and not caring about health care at all!

I am an ACNP student as well. I'm at Loyola University Chicago. I am currently overwhelmed and dealing with bouts of nause, lol! Are you a full time student? Duke is one of the programs I looked at. I would have applied if I could have sold my house. I like that they provide 1000 clinical hrs.
I like to read, dance, spend time with my kids and play word games in my free time. Don't know how much of that I will have now that I'm a full time student again. I also work part time in the CV/ICU of a level II trauma center. And most of my friends work in healthcare, lol!
I am a part time student. I need to work full-time to maintain my tuition benefits. I feel your pain on the workload though, it is already quite a bit more substantial than anything my undergrad classes threw at me.

I am starting my FNP program this week. I have been an RN for three years working a little bit of everything (peds, med-surg, float). I currently work PRN so I have alot of flexibility with my work schedule which will allow me to go to school full time. This semester I'll be taking a Research class and a class on family health theory.

Hello I am also a new student to FNP, I am going through the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL. I have only been a nurse for 3 years but in that time I have worked in a Neuro ICU, rural med/surg for all ages, and CVICU. My husband and I are also expecting our first child this spring so I will not be working while attending school! The only problem I am having right now is figuring out how to begin networking in order to find preceptors...we also just moved 2 weeks ago and I don't know any NPs in this area and because I'm not working I don't know exactly how to meet any either! Any ideas????
What about joining/contacting your state association for NP's? Does your school help with finding preceptors?

Hello,
I am an RN with 6 yrs experience. I am in an accelerated fnp program at my state university. I work PRN night shift at a local ED and have a 3yr old and husband. Feeling a little overwhelmed but trying to muck through the best way I can. Would love to hear from anyone else to gain advice or just to commiserate. Thanks!

Welcome! I can definitely commiserate on the workload! Lots of reading to keep up with, and like you, I work nights which can make doing a lot of reading just a bit more challenging.
I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling overwhelmed!! I dealt with some serious nausea during orientation.

I just read the syllabus and then look at my work schedule and scratch my head wondering how I will fit it all in sometimes.
Same here!!
