I am looking in that area for a job too. Did you try Baptist Hospital? I have tried all the hospitals so far and no interview. I heard that University of Miami Hospital needs nurses so maybe you can try there. I have many applications there but nothing. I believe you have to know someone in a high level position in a hospital to get a job these days. I wish you all the best, keep on searching.

Kinda hard to look in the homestead area, since Homestead Hospital is the only major hospital that i know of

i know that no one wants to hear this, but in homestead/south dade, your probably going to have to consider jobs outside the hospitals.

I hate Florida! There is no job around for new grads...I used to work at a hospital in Florida as a tech and got laid off and after I got my RN license I went back to the same hospital and they did not take me back but they accept another new grad who has never worked there before. This is a shame! Someone please tell me what I am doing wrong! I need a job to pay my bills, I am bankrupt!

wow! they must of really not liked you at all!
I saw that baptist had a versant program. keep applying and go there in person, and ask to speak to the nurse recruiter at baptist. and apply to homehealth as well.

I live in the area and am looking to relocate since there are no jobs out here for new grads. The problem is Baptist has the Scholars program, and if you are not a scholar, you cannot get a job at Baptist right now as a new grad. I used to work for Baptist and was told that I would not have a job as an RN because I was not a Scholar. One of my classmates, also a non-scholar, knows many people that work for the Baptist Health System and she has been in contact with Administration, even recruiters who have told her she has 0% chance of working for Baptist Health right now as a new nurse. They have so many scholars, they don't have anywhere to place them. They have to make positions in order to hire scholars to whom they have promised a job after graduation. It's a situation that I think even they didn't know they would end up with...too many scholars with nowhere to put them.
As far as other places down here, Jackson is the only other game in town, and they are laying-off right now due to financial difficulty. Most other jobs like home health and hospice want at least one year of experience. Right now, I am willing to work anywhere and know that I need to relocate to do that. Good luck with your search.
I am looking to relocate too. This is getting too bad. My friend told me that Aventura Hospital in Miami will have a job fair on monday, may you would want to look into it.
