Hi everyone. Does anyone know how one should go about applying for the State board in New Mexico? After the school sends the official transcript and after completing the fingerprinting requirements, how long will it take before one could be given an ATT? Thanks and have a nice day!
I read somewhere that renewal of NM license is done once every two years. SSN is required for the renewal. Failure to renew does not necessarily mean that you will re-take NCLEX. I think the license, if not renewed, will become inactive and cannot be used. Before allowing a renewal, the BON may require that a refresher program be completed by nurses who have been away from nursing practice for some time. Sometimes, a new background check and fingerprint check can be required by the BON. These entail expenses and payment of fees.
You can also get info on renewal of license from reading renewal forms or the BON's website or straight from the BON itself.
i hope this helps.
thats not nice. in case the nurse got caught up in retrogression, forecasted to be 6 to 9 months, and hasnt found a job or means to proceed with the Consular Processing, the nurse is in deep trouble, because the RN cannot endorse the license which is no longer active after retrogression.
thanks so much kiko for the info and advice!!God Bless
when you receive eligibility confirmation or the instruction from NM BON to register in pearson vue for the ATT, you can inquire directly from NM BON the validity period of the eligibility to register in pearson and also the validity of the ATT once you register. wait for the reply.according to others who previously applied, eligibility from NM BON is good for one year and ATT is valid for 90 days once you register. you can obtain information directly from NM BON after you receive instruction to register.
regarding the time of sending the application form/fees/fingerprint cards, you can opt to wait a couple of weeks (10 to 15 working days) from the time your TOR was received by the BON and send a request for information on the status of the evaluation of your TOR and for instruction to send your application. wait for a reply/instruction.
goodluck!
there is no ces in new mexico, and the processing time before they give you certificate of eligibility is around 2 weeks to 2 months at most i think.
so meaning, i only need to submit my application, tor, finger print cards then the time period for eligibility is up to 2 mos?
then that would be another month for the att to be released right?
btw how long are you given to take the exam after you att has been released?
thanks

hi there! perhaps, it will help also to check the previous pages here because i remember that similar questions were asked and answered here. an option is to send an email and get answers straight from the bon. we know that rules can change anytime. when you receive new info from the bon, i hope you can share it here too.
goodluck!
yeah you can check the previous pages. You can download New mexico's application form or you can email them for one. request for 2 fingerprint cards. Send the Certification of eligibility of nurisng program to your registrar and they will be the one to send New mexico your transcript and RLE. Then wait for 1 to 2 weeks to email them to check if you can send your application with fingerprint card.

I understand that the certificate of eligibility is required only from US-school graduates (and not from non-US school graduates), as shown in the forms/instructions. For non-US school graduates, only the TOR needs to be sent by the school directly to the BON (and no forms to be filled out by the school, but schools' registrar/records officers usually include a cover letter addressed to the BON).
One may check out again the instructions/forms or may verify this directly from the BON.
I hope this helps.
where did u attend ur seminar???just curious to ask if they accept newlygrads to be sponsored??thanks
It wasnt a seminar by a recruitment agency. The speaker is a CEO of a recruitment agency hiring nurses for new mexico, in the US. they do not have POEA permit yet to recruit in the philippines. When i inquired if work experience is needed, she said a minimum of 1 year. I think the salary she mentioned is for nurses with specialization.

this is for kathy1121. I couldn't get through your contact info. So, I'll post here my reply to your message concerning applying for NM licensure.
1. you can include a copy of your marriage contract with the application form. you can also include a cover letter to the BON stating your maiden name (the one used in your TOR) and your current married name. And/Or, after your school sends your TOR to the BON, you can send an email to the BON and mention that your TOR (bearing your maiden name which is __________) was already sent from your school directly to the BON and then give your current married name (the one that you want to appear in your license when you pass the exam). You may or may not receive a reply, but the BON takes note of emails that it receives.
2. for non-US school graduates, no NM BON forms are to be filled out by the school. The school sends only a certified copy of the TOR (with RLE hours) in a sealed envelope. Schools usually include a cover letter addressed to the BON.
3. As for the RLE hours of graduates from Philippine nursing programs, these are shown on a school's certification or document (separate page) that forms part or is attached to the TOR.
I hope I was able to answer your questions.
Goodluck!
