New Mexico Licensure Question

Published

Hi everyone. Does anyone know how one should go about applying for the State board in New Mexico? After the school sends the official transcript and after completing the fingerprinting requirements, how long will it take before one could be given an ATT? Thanks and have a nice day!

for the application forms from P.I., LBC mail to the US for 3 to 5 working days delivery costs P1000 minimum (but LBC has no pick up service).

Post office EMS minimum charge fee to the US was recently increased from P5++ to almost P800 now. But, still 5 to 6 working days delivery(???). EMS can be tracked thru USPS website.

Hi. I am also interested in applying in NM. I have downloaded the forms and can I send to them my TOR even without a fingerprint card?

By the way, I'd like to ask anybody who applied in NM already...how much did you pay? $110 for the registered nurse exam plus $50 for the evaluation fee? Is that all? and also $31 for the fingerprint card? thanks.

yes, in a sealed envelope directly sent to NM BON by the school. have it picked up from school by a courier for faster delivery (3 working days). transcript evaluation by NM BON will take usually 2 or 3 weeks.

that's it, $191 total.

for the NM BON, try an international credit card (mastercard or visa). verify with your credit card company for conditions, if any. it's safe.

for the NM DPS, dollar demand draft (try bank draft of PNB).

Thanks for the info. But did you include the forms and the payment already or just you TOR for evaluation? Thanks. Also did you check with sabrina after 5 days of mailing it? thanks

Anybody here who is from Kuwait and applied for NM licensure? If any, can you please share your experience on how you do with the processing? Thanks!

separate mailing. TOR must be in a sealed envelope to be sent to NM BON directly from the school. if you include your forms there to save cost, it's clear that the TOR did not come to the BON directly from the school. it's your risk.

you can send the forms, fingerprint cards and payment a day after the TOR is sent by the school. use separate couriers. try LBC for the forms and FEDEX or DHL to pick up the TOR from the school.

you can track the delivery thru website of courier. If you use post office EMS, tracking is thru website of either US Postal Service or TNT Global which sometimes handle consigment of mails.

from the day the TOR is confirmed received by NM BON (not from mailing date), give it 12 to 15 working days (not only five days) before sending an email to ms. vidaurri to inquire about the status of your application. wait for the reply. if application is found complete, you will be told to register in pearson vue for your ATT.

when only taking the new mexico nclex for intial licensure...

-do i have to go there to get an ssn to get my license before i can endorse it to another state like ca?

-if it's a compact state, could i go directly to the state ex. texas or must i wait for a ssn & license in nm ist?

thank you

hello guys, alot of us like New mexico because the processing is fast but the question is after you get the license? HOw many years will your license be valid? what will happen if you can't find work or can't endorse for 2 years? Can you renew your license even without ss#? what will you happen if you can't renew, do you take another NCLEX exam? Thanks for the answers :p

i understand from this forum that you will be able to get an ssn when you have a legitimate employment in the us.

nm bon issues a license even if you don't have an ssn.

about compact state license, you can have more info about it thru a link found in the home page of ncsbn.org there are conditions before the compact state license rules can be applied.

I read somewhere that renewal of NM license is done once every two years. SSN is required for the renewal. Failure to renew does not necessarily mean that you will re-take NCLEX. I think the license, if not renewed, will become inactive and cannot be used.

Before allowing a renewal, the BON may require that a refresher program be completed by nurses who have been away from nursing practice for some time. Sometimes, a new background check and fingerprint check can be required by the BON. These entail expenses and payment of fees.

You can also get info on renewal of license from reading renewal forms or the BON's website or straight from the BON itself.

i hope this helps.
