New Mexico Licensure Question

U.S.A. New Mexico

Published

Hi everyone. Does anyone know how one should go about applying for the State board in New Mexico? After the school sends the official transcript and after completing the fingerprinting requirements, how long will it take before one could be given an ATT? Thanks and have a nice day!

First, there is no such thing as an NCLEX application, there is no way to apply for it directly.

And the rules have changed for NM. You must now submit a Credentials Evaluation to them first, they are no longer doing their own assessment.

So you are looking at four to five months to get approval to sit for the exam from them.

Why go thru endorsement and throw away good money if you are not going to be working there? You now have the added expense of the CES, which is over a couple of hundred US dollars to start right off.

And a reason that NM has gone to the CES because of the number of applicants that they were getting thru there.

You may wish to reconsider what you are planning to do.

i just got my eligibility thru email. I guess I am one of the last batch where credentials are reviewed by them and not thru CES. and btw, it took me 4months, just in case some people want to know. please pray for me huhu... ciao!

Congrats W Padre!/ Did you get your ATT already?

For all those still considering NM for initial licensure, please re-consider your plans. NM is now requiring the CES and that the copy of the report be included with your application form and fees and if not will all be returned to you.

NM will not be a good State anymore to get an initial licensure and do an endorsement to another State since it is now requiring the CES and they even took it further in that it should be completed first to even able to start applying to them.

This means you are better of going directly to the State where you really intend to work and live with some few exemptions. Better consider another State now than go through NM, unless this is really the place you want to work.

Congrats W Padre!/ Did you get your ATT already?

thank you. im still waiting for my att ;-) goodluck to all applicants :-)

grrr i need to study again...

hello guys... please help me. i'm desperate. can someone please thrust a knife at my chest?

i sent my application for NM BON last August 2007. i just received an email a while ago stating:

"It has been determined through review of your nursing education transcript, that information was either incomplete or missing. Your school of nursing needs to provide information about your clinical experience as a student including the type of clinical successfully completed and the number of hours in clinical. This is necessary to determine if your program was equivalent to a US Nursing Program. "

DOES THIS MEAN THAT I SHOULD START THE WHOLE PROCESS AGAIN? OR CAN I JUST SIMPLY MAIL THEM THE MISSING DOCUMENTS? WAAAAAHHH.. IM REALLY GOING CRAZY. I WAITED FOR THIS FOR 6 MONTHS. I DONT WANT TO START ALL OVER AGAIN. MY CONCERN IS... NEW MEXICO DONT WANT TO EVALUATE TRANCRIPTS AND RLE CERTIFICATES STARTING FEBRUARY 2008, RIGHT? DOES THIS MEAN I HAVE TO START AGAIN USING THE NEW PROCESS? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME.

We are in the same situation my school missed my RLE.

They sent it Yesterday and will be delivered after 3 days max. My prob is will the bon still consider my Evaluation or they will require me to have the CES already?

Hi Lorance,

I have just applied to CGFNS to do my CES for NMBON. I would like to endorce to CA, with NM being the state of my initial licence, would I still be able to endore? or will it now be more complicated.

If it's CA, any State that does not require CGFNS exam and gives a license w/o a U.S. SSN (such as NM) would be fine. Just that by going to NM now, it will slightly be more costly because of the CES but that is all.

I just mentioned on my last post that NM won't be a good "walk-through" State anymore. Many people use NM to get licensure only w/ no intentions to work there but with CES now as req't, it's not going to be a good "walk-through" State anymore for US RN licensure since it now takes more time to process application forms and more costly.

If one has no intention to work in NM, there are still other States that one can go through and still don't need the CES or CGFNS exam and gives a license w/o a U.S. SSN as well.

to all who are still waiting for their eligibility. take your time, read and read a lot. sooner your time will come and will sit for the exam. don't get bored and read, read, and read . I know some are anxious and excited to have their eligibility, and will get bored somewhere along the way. Don't stop and continue studying...if not, you'll soon regret that you wish you had studied more. just a tip. ;-)
