New LVN needs advice to find a job

Published

Hi guys; I was an ADN student. I had to stop classes for family health reasons and find a job. Nursing First Job Hunt Assistance is very helpful. I have several places where to apply but can't help feeling nervous. I passed the Boards in Spring. I had classes until this summer. I am interested in Geriatrics. I would like to work in a hospital, that is if they are hiring or start straight into a Long-Term facility. I volunteered in a hospital for a year while in classes. I sign up into 2 nursing associations and ready to post my resume. AN community have been really helpful when I was a student, thank you for everything. Any input is welcome, thank you.

If you wish to work in a long term care facility, walk in during business hours (Monday through Friday from 9 to 5pm) and apply in person while dressed nicely. This technique may or may not result in an on-the-spot interview.

Thank you TheCommuter.

Not sure where you are but being hired as an LVN in a hospital is tough. At least it was in CA and Florida. The advice you got is what I would do. Also check out indeed.com and even Craigslist for ads on open positions.

Thank you NightCrow; I have submitted applications to hospitals with no answer so far. I am checking indeed.com but most of the employers want LVN/LPN with experience. I will keep knocking on doors as TheCommuter wisely recommended. Thank you!:)
