New LPN student needing advice!

It is an intensive course especially the first few semesters when you are laying down a good foundation of a and p and you really are memorizing alot of info..Soon things will start to make sense when you have some understanding of how things work.The harder you work right now the better you'll do later on...Lots of luck.. ( I loved that time of my life----)

Hi....I havn't actually started classes yet...but I will be shortly to become an LPN just like you.....So congrats on your decision!:balloons:

I have had it on my heart to do so for a while now.

Don't know if this will help you or not...becuase I'm not in your shoes.

But one thing that has taken me to the road pointed towards this wonderfull

destination is love.

And this same love will carry me down this road as well.

And just like you....your passion will open a way!

Hello,
I just began my LPN program this month, I've gone to college for 3 years and that was so easy compared to my first two weeks in nursing school! I've heard that its only going to get worse, we have at least 6 tests a week. My questions are all LPN schools like this and if so how did you get through it. Don't get me wrong I'm studying every night but its just so difficult for me to comprehend all the information that I'm learning in two days. I really want to be a LPN and am going to do this no matter what, but I need help in how to pass my classes.Please help any advice is weclomed. Thank you

My LPN school was overwhelming, but it seems that there are more demands in your program than it was in mine. It does increase, but you may be able to meet the demands, because you become adjusted to it. The reason why it overcomes you is because most LPN programs compress all that is needed within anywhere from 9-18 months, while the RN program is a bit more spread out (but still difficult). Nursing school on ANY level is challenging, but just keep the faith. Believe it or not, it ends as quickly as it began.

The community college LPN programs with cheaper tuitions tend to be more difficult and stricter than the private, expensive LPN programs.

But why? lol. This worries me because I'm going into one of the cheaper programs. I guess its kind of lucky that I won't be able to get into the nursing program until next year. I'll be taking A&P and intro to pharmacology this year while I wait. I can get those out of the way...But still. This worries me a good bit.

That sounds like how my program was!! All I can say is hang in there. Keep studying and do the best you can. It may seem like you are not retaining it because I thought the same thing when I started but you would be surprised what you do remember.

Your post brought back alot of memories!:) I remember how fast my instructors flew through A & P...I think we had a test about every day! My advice is just study hard & remember it doesn't last forever (thank goodness!) Before you know it, it will be a distant memory & you'll be living your dream! Best wishes to you!

We must be in the same class! Because I am going thru the same ordeal. I am two weeks into school and I am overwhelmed. I think it is a huge transition, and takes alot of discipline. I found the other comments re-assuring. I do believe the first part of school is the hardest, because for me, It is all new. I have never attended any college. I did take a class on STNA training and did take the state test, which I believe did help having a little knowledge. Just stick with it, keep up the daily studying, and pray for a little mercy on us. I to am going to get thru this heck or high water. Sometimes you have to give your frustrations to God. He is always there for you.

Not always true. I go to a private school and it is very strict. Strict about absences, strict about cirriculum, strict about clinicals and strict about dress code. I have heard that compared to some other local tech schools, (cheaper) our program is much more detailed and difficult. However, I am pleased that we have such a tough cirriculum. We one of the highest NCLEX pass rate in the area.

lvn program is a fast paced course.. all you have to do is prepare yourself ahead of time.. i had to study everyday and had no weekends but at the same time I also had fun.. i finished school like a blink of an eye... now im just going to take nclex.. you can do it. dont give up!
