LOOKING INTO NURSING SCHOOLS. I AM SUPPOSE TO START UNION COUNTY COLLEGE IN SPRING OF 2008 BUT I WOULD LIKE SOME INFO ON TRINITAS SCHOOL OF NURSING IN ELIZABETH NJ FROM ANYONE WHO PREVIOUSLY ATTENDED, GRADUATED OR LEFT FOR ANY REASON.

Hello all,

I will be attending Union County for the Fall Semester and I am interested in attending the Trinitas School of Nursing and I need some advice from those who are already in the program. Here is my situation:

I applied online in May, waiting to hear from them for months (like an idiot)

Finally decided to go down there.. I had to fill out an application again and transfer marticulation form.

I am a NYC who is willing to pay any amount of money to get my RN degree

I have a B.S. with all of my sciences, psych etc.

I spoke to a counselor at UCC and the only classes I need to take is the nursing courses and one humanities course (which I dont think I need)-

I was told that I have to take some classes at UCC to build a GPA with them to be considered for the program (which i believe is understandable)

Did anyone take Nurse 130-131 together? Is that possible.

How much did you guys pay for each nursing course, uniform etc?

Hi CeceStar5,

Im in Trinitas and Im starting 132 in 2 weeks. No you cant take 130 and 131 together. I dont know what your GPA is but if a counselor said to take a few elective classes to bring it up then by all means do so. If your GPA is in the high 2's its not enough because if you get a C+ in your first nursing class that will drop your GPA too close to the 2.5, which is the minimum to stay in the class. If you end up taking the 2nd nursing class which is 8 credits with a lets say 2.7 GPA and get another C+ you just brought your GPA below the 2.5 and you cant continue to the next level. Get your GPA in the high 3's and you'll be fine.

As far a tuition, Im out-of-state too and I just paid alittle over 5,700 for tuition( thats the same for everyone) and that did not include books. Uniform is 100 which includes 2 shirts and the most uncomfortable white pants(HAHA).

Good luck to ya hope I answered your questions let me know if there's anything else!!!

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate this. The counselor told me that because I have all the classes except for a humanities course and the nursing courses, I need to establish a GPA in Union. So I am going to work on getting a high GPA in their school.I really wanted to start in September but because of not knowing that their online application is useless I would have took courses in the summer. I thought that if you have all the required classes you would be able to start nursing courses right away. I am glad I was able to talk to other students to clarify. Since you are out of state as well. Did you have to take additional course or did you take require classes at the school?

Hey CeCe...I'm STILL strongly thinking of applying to Trinitas & Muhlenberg for Spring 2012 (definite back up plan)...keep me posted on how your first semester goes! All the Best...

I will. I am applying to both as well. I spoke to someone at Muhlenberg and they said even though the deadline was August 1. i should still apply even though its not guaranteed for the accelerated program.. I will keep you posted

Hi All,

I am considering nursing as my next career choice. I already hold a BS degree from another university on a different field. I read that the diploma option at trinitas SON is also available. Has anyone applied there with an AS or BS degree from another school and was accepted to the nursing diploma option? What are there requirements at Union County College? I don't have my A&P I, II but, have the rest of humanities and College Chemistry. And what do I need to be accepted at Trinitas? Thanks!

Hi guynew11

Im from Trinitas SON (Associate Degree) 2 classes left!! YEAH!! If your from Rutgers they pretty much accept everything. I would call admissions and ask for sure. They look at your A&P 1and2 and has to have been completed within the last 7 yrs or you would have to redo them, chem 105, if your from out of state(which I am from NY and didnt have a problem with it)among other things. They also want Micro which i recommend doing before the nursing classes start. Hope this helps, Good luck:)

My Wife is in her last semester at Trinitas SON and is having a rough time on her finals. Any suggestions for her. She's a full-time employee, works nights, school during the day and holding a very high GPA. I'm so proud of her, but she is | | far from quiting if she fails her final,

Any advice i can pass on to her would be appreciated.

Congrats I hope to be saying the same next year this time too.. Any advice for students entering 231?? I heard a mixed bag of reviews.. Is it true the tests are tougher?? (more choices for each question and more 'circle all that apply' questions)

Congrats xtian.... how was your transition as a RN? Was it easy to find a job in NJ if you decided to work in the state? I heard from others that Nursing has become saturated since more people are opting for nursing career and also the competition from Nurses abroad to work in the US.....Are you also making $$ what you expected to get. Some people on this site has expressed their complains about not making enough as a fresh graduate.

Thanks!
