  1. Ive passed my boards, graduated in may from a well known school in NJ. Got a 3.5 gpa. with 3 years of big pharma experience. IS it just me or is it really this impossible to find a job? How are people with 0 years of work exp who graduated getting jobs and someone who has some work exp and a decent gpa from a good school not getting any luck?

I am at the point of giving up and actually gonna start looking on the west coast or even in georgia or s carolinia. Im loosing hope here any advice helpful hints this is making me sad and depressed

Keep trying and apply to everything you can. Volunteer and network as much as possible. I had 10yrs of pharma experience and that doesn't really help out all that much. It took me over a hundred apps, with only two interviews to get a position. It's not an easy market here in NJ.... it's tough but don't give up. Something will pan out. If you have the option of looking into other state (like you seem to have) then you may get lucky out of state.

It is very difficult. I had several interviews, however, when someone with at least a year or more of experience walks in the door, nothing else matters. A hospital is looking at the bottom line. It will take a couple of weeks to get an experienced nurse up to speed versus a new nurse which will take months not to mention the thousands of dollars it will cost the hospital. Only thing I could say is keep looking, networking, and keep applying. Be proud of what you have already accomplished. You have achieved success where so many others have failed.

I'm just taking a break from writing my resume and decided to read threads. Wow, is it really that bad out there?

    Hey guys

YES I've searched everywhere before posting it here and there seems to be no jobs at ll for new grad RNs in New Jersey. I graduated in May, took my nclex in the beginning of July and haven't found a job yet. It is so frustrating and discouraging. Please help me if you know of any hospitals or clinics that are currently hiring new grads in NEW JERSEY!!!!!

    Thank you

    Try LTC or immunization clinics.

Hang in there. The economy will eventually turn around. (Hopefully when Obama is gone but I digress). In the meantime keep studying and attending seminars. I would also suggest volunteering in a hospital just to get your foot in the door, meet other nurses, and let them know you are available for work. Good luck.

A month after getting your license is not really a long time to wait. Some people have been searching for more than six months and in some cases more than a year. The process takes time. Make sure you have a good resume and great references. Check webistes frequently, as some positions are only posted for a few days. You might need to be willing to commute or relocate.

Many of us graduated back in December and have not found jobs yet. I just landed a job last week. Dont give up hope, keep applying. If you are young and not tied to the area, move somewhere else.

If that doesn't prove right there that nursing schools are becoming a dime a dozen I don't what does. Yes, the economy stinks, but really job searching for 1yr!!

It will only get worse...think about this there are already more DNP nursing programs then med schools and the "Super duper Nursing Powers" just came up with this what 11 years ago?

    Good luck finding a job!!

Good luck. I am working on-call in LTC. I have been there a year now and have been looking for part time or full time work off and on since I started my on-call job. Nothing. I am in Oregon and the job economy sucks here too.

I did have an interview for SNF yesterday. I have a great resume, have been in healthcare for 10 years now, awesome references and great letters of recommendation. Who knows if I even will get an offer for this job. The interview was very strang. Not your typical interview. Who knows. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck to you.

I have been looking since January. Even the LTC place I worked at as an LPN didnt have anything. Knowing people who had jobs (they got hired before the recession or worked there as aides) in the places I've been applying had been fruitless so far. The HR lady that I spoke with on the phone today practically laughed at me when I tried to talk to her. I've applied up to an hour and a half away from me, other LTC places, clinics, you name it. I'm willing to do anything full time or part time. IDK what to do. I've had friend and families look at my resume. I have 10 years in the same company, 7 of them as an LPN. I feel ya.

Give it time. I'm in the same situation right now too. Been applying for a month and just took a temp position the other day for a flu clinic. It's definitely a start and at least gives me something while i'm continuing the search!!!
