New Jersey City University (NJCU) Accelerated Nursing 2019

Published

Hi all!

I know it may be a bit early but I like to always get the ball rolling. Is there anyone that is looking to apply to the 2019-2020 accelerated nursing cohort at NJCU?? I'm looking to connect so we can keep each other updated throughout the process.

Your blurred image looks great ?. So the uniform is required for regular nonclinical days, in addition to clinical days?

I did my best. ?

Also, it is only required on clinical days AND laboratory days. Also, there is picture day at the end of the program, where you will be immortalized onto a plaque. lol.

How does this program compare to others in the area in terms of Cost? Excluding the private programs. Rutgers is 4 semesters and since this is 3,I'm wondering if this will cost less.

@Jyosei is it required to have a car throughout the program or do some people carpool to clinicals etc?

Has there been anyone that was pregnant during the program? If so, is it possible to juggle school or do professors recommend applying the following year/can you defer if accepted?

Is the cost closer to 40 or 50 grand? @jyosei

This program is the least expensive of all the universities in the State of NJ. 32k.

It is technically required, but there are people who do carpool. However, I would REALLY try to get one.

No, there are no pregnant people (that I know of) currently in our cohort here in Jersey City. Also, you can likely juggle everything, but you will REALLY have to put in serious time management. You can defer for one year, I believe, if accepted.

The cost should be around 32-35k. The university prides itself on this.

@JyoseiWhen you got your acceptance correspondence, how did it arrive? We've been told it will be an email through nursing cas. Was this the same for your class? Did you ever receive anything physical in the mail?

It arrived as an e-mail initially and then as a physical acceptance letter via snail mail.

How would you describe your study methods? I’m sure you’re receiving an insane of amount of information every time you meet for lectures, labs, etc. What has been the most effective study strategies for you? Thank you in advance!

It's a coincidence that you're asking this, since I'm actually studying at this moment for Pharmacology. lol!

Reviewing PowerPoints/notes, at least skimming the important textbook (it's almost impossible to read word for word considering the heavy amounts of readings assigned), and finding a good study group/partner. Some of the best review materials are to go through sample questions on Quizlet and periodically going through the Saunders book (widely used book, especially towards learning about NCLEX strategies). Day 1, you should already be thinking about NCLEX and learning how to READ questions carefully.

The hardest thing always is discipline. You have to be able to set a consistent time that you're studying.
