Hi all!
I know it may be a bit early but I like to always get the ball rolling. Is there anyone that is looking to apply to the 2019-2020 accelerated nursing cohort at NJCU?? I'm looking to connect so we can keep each other updated throughout the process.

Oh that happened to me too. I ended up sending one of my transcripts twice. Annoying. Congratulations on accepting Rutgers. Even if you waited until the 15th, we still would not have received any acceptance or rejection feedback from njcu. I'd prob do the same thing if i were in your shoes. Good luck to you and your nursing school journey. You'll be successful wherever you go.
I’ve been reading the comments and now I’m worried about NursingCAS....
They emailed me to say that my transcripts were verified and that I should be able to go in after an hour of receiving that email and see the GPA information updated.
I didn’t check my email until a few hours after they sent the email. When I log on nothing was updated but my application was “verified”.
I reached out to NursingCAS and they told me that my “application is going to have a lite verification and coursework is not going to be verified. Only degrees are verified and GPA totals are listed in the No coursework GPA section. The assigned verifier chose Data N/A for each school (2) because there was not an enough information on the transcripts. The designation schools will do their own calculations.” If they received official transcripts I don’t see what’s the problem. It didn’t sound right but they said the NJCU will know what to do.
What do you think?

they told me that njcu basically compares your actual transcript against the data we input on nurscingcas. there might not be anything for nursingcas to update because there weren't any data entry errors when you put your info in. remember nursingcas will send our transcripts to njcu and njcu will then comb over everything. all of my previously attended schools each had gpas, but the last school i attended that actually has all my pre reqs- nursingcas didn't give a gpa for it. I was hoping they would average it in with my old cum gpa to pull it up.
anyways, i think you are prb fine.
hey guys. was wondering what your opinions were on the njcu program vs the rutgers program. prices are similar and so are the length of programs. i am a rutgers alumni which makes me lean towards rutgers however njcu at wall is so much more convenient for me. do you guys think one program is better than the other or at the end of the day they are the same. i don’t know exactly what i should be looking for!! thanks for any feed back and good luck to everyone !!

NJCU and Rutgers are my top two schools as well. I’ve been to information sessions for both and I honestly don’t think one is better than the other. Personally I get a more hands on feeling with NJCU than with Rutgers but at the end of the day, for me, it’s about convenience. I’m closer to NJCU JC than Rutgers Newark so NJCU is my first choice. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I know the Rutgers’ program ranks higher overall as opposed to NJCU’s program, but I think at the end of the day, you’ll be fine with whichever program you choose. I know with Rutgers you get more breaks (Spring break, Winter break, small Summer break). NJCU is 12 months long so I’m assuming classes might be a bit more intense due to the short duration/lack of breaks. But I think either school is a good decision. Both were my top two, but decided to commit to Rutgers NB since that is my alma mater and I didn’t want to wait for NJCU because it wasn’t guaranteed I was getting in.
Guys does anyone happen to know what NJCU looks at the most? Like do the value pre req grades, experience, HESI scores, or cumalitive gpa more? Like this is my top choice tbh but my pre reqs were bumpy but I tried to prove I know the stuff through the HESI idk if the 88 is cutting it or not. Idk if my experiences even matter or help. I’m just hoping for the best anyone in the same boat?

My prerequisite GPA is 3.39, bachelors is a 3.98 (even though I transferred credits from other schools they only use the GPA of courses taken at that school) and the other school I went to was a 3.53 (where I took most of my prerequisites and where I received my associates degree). I got an 83 on the HESI due to the grammar section... I would have had a 90 if I did well on that section like the other sections... My letters of recommendation are good, but not sure if all of this is cutting it. I only applied to NJCU so if I do not get accepted I will have to find other schools to apply to out of state. I ended up with a B- in A&P I&II and many schools want at least a B. I may retake those courses if it comes down to it (I took them 5 years ago). The only thing I know of is that last cycle those who had a lower HESI score were waitlisted and then some accepted when other applicants didn’t send deposit. Many applicants also applied to Rutgers and accepted that offer, which means there could be seats that won’t be filled.
Lol my pre reqs are almost a 3.0 (2.89) but not quite and my cumulative gpa is 3.01, but I have a lot of research and health experience under my boat which is probably the only thing that can save me other than my HESI score which is not bad but not good idk we can only wait
