U.S.A. New Hampshire

I live in MA and before I spend my time communiting back in forth I wanted some feedback on First Choice. Is anyone attending or plan to attend? Again any info would be helpful

Hello,

There is a LPN school in Merrimack, NH - Harmony Health Care Institute. Many students from Massachusetts commute to this school.

:-)

Hi - FYI - I contacted them not to long ago & heres my opinion of them.

Cons: they have only been in business for about 1 year. The NET exam else where one takes is not transferable. If you have your LNA accreditations; no credit given. Cost is a few thopusand more than other schools offering the same program. Should one need financial assistance they only offer Sallie Mae (yep an affiliate) so IF one qualifies for aid you will be paying accordingly for the interest (remember this company lost its shirts in the mortgage market)

They have not qualified to offer students for Federal funding. Lastly, they only have info via website no hard copy info available. PS the secretary is kinda rude the day I spoke with her.

Pros - they have a 11 month program ft 4 days / week or pt evening 18 months.

Good luck in your decision.

I had to respond to this. I found the same thing HTmommy. The receptionist was not forthcoming with information. I felt that I had to ask a ton of questions just to get the basics from her. How frustrating!

Are they accredited by anyplace, I dont see that listed on their website. Usually NLN or even a college accreditation body is listed somewhere. That would make me weary.

Also are the classes transferreable if you decide to go somewhere for a higher degree?

What comes to mind are a few of my classmates who paid into a school such as this and lost thousands in tuition money when the school abruptly closed with no notice. Many affected gave up their dream of becoming a nurse beacuse of it.

So please be careful with new schools, especially ones who dont seem to offer much information.

Also if they are that rude to prospective students (the ones who they should be courting) I wonder how bad they treat the students once they have them enrolled!

Kukuajoo,

I'm not sure about transferring credits...however, I know that for the LPN to RN programs..you test out of Nursing I & II..or take tests that show you have the skills to enter the program..they may vary depending on the school. The pre-reqs are not transferrable w/o accreditation.

Thats what I was thinking Cardigan.Harmony Health is BRAND NEW and has no track record and has not been forthcoming with information.

And many LPN to RN Programs want your to have attended an accredited course. I feel it would make sense to take prereqs at ine of the community colleges if possible. The more you can transfer into the higher degree, the better.

I have always been weary when a place charges a ton of money and does not get accredited nationally or regionally.....
