Things you would love to say to your fellow nursing students!
Ahhhh...let's vent. 1. Don't get mad when someone does well. They probably earned it. 2. This isn't high school, let's act like professionals.....enough said here. 3. Gossiping about others only makes you look like bad....refer back to #2. 4. Don't complain about the workload...it is nursing school afterall!

Careplan question
my thougnts on the 'risk for infection' were for respiratory infections, possible skin infection due to breakdown due to immobility. my interventions will certainly incorporate care for preventing these types of infections. tcdb, reposition qh, etc... i'm just looking for an appropriate timeframe. my thinking was that the time frame should be daily or every shift seeing that this pt. is totally immobile. i am thinking that his contracture limits his mobility and due to the limited mobility..this person could end up with respiratory problems/infections. the patient does not currently have an infection. i'm just trying to prevent one due to his immobility. cardigan2

Careplan question
I have a question regarding care plans. How do you come up with reasonable time frames for your outcomes/goals? For example.. Nursing dx; Risk for infection r/t immobility as evidenced by contractures. Longterm goal; Maintain skin integrity as evidenced by the absence of skin breakdown..(here is where the instructor wants to see a time frame). My first thought is to put 'each shift'. "Maintain skin integrity as evidenced by the absence of skin breakdown during each shift". Would this be an appropiate time frame to list? Thanks everyone :) Cardigan2

Passing PBCC ACE Book 1 & 2 LPN-RN
I'm an LPN student who is hoping to continue on for my RN...I have been researching the LPN-RN advanced placement programs in my area. One local college requires that you test of out the first year..ACE exam. Does anyone know anything about the ACE (Acceleration Challenge Exam I -Book One: Foundations of Nursing) exam? I went to the Excelsior website to see what sort of study material was available and had no luck finding any. Thanks Cardigan2

What kind of Backpack?
I just found one at Marshal's (Olpymia) for $10.00. So, even if I don't need it for NS...I am not out a whole lot of $$$. Gotta love a deal :) Cardigan2

Med Math Help!
Try to remember the prefixes Kilo-Hecto-Deca-[unit]-Deci-Centi-Milli =1 Kilometer, 10 hectometers, 100 dekameters, 1000 meters =10,000 decimeters, 100,000 centimeters, 1,000,000 millimeters. You can remember the order of prefixes with this mnemonic King Henry Doesn't (Usually) Drink Chocolate Milk. You move from one prefix to the next by moving the decimal point. ex. Convert 12.54 kilometers to centimeters If you look above, starting at kilo, there are 5 spaces between kilo and centi. Kilo to centi goes from left to right...so move your decimal to the right. Answer: 1254000 cm If you are converting Milli to hecto...you'd move the decimal from right to left. Ex. Convert 457 mL to hL You are going to move the decimal 5 spaces left. Answer: 0.00457 hL Hope this was helpful Cardigan2

??First Choice LPN program in New H
Kukuajoo, I'm not sure about transferring credits...however, I know that for the LPN to RN programs..you test out of Nursing I & II..or take tests that show you have the skills to enter the program..they may vary depending on the school. The pre-reqs are not transferrable w/o accreditation. Cardigan2
