I graduated in May 2013 took and passed my NCLEX the first in June 2013, I graduated from an NLNAC | National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. . College. I know it is kind of too soon to feel antsy, but I have been to about 5 interviews, no call backs nothing, I am beginning to wonder what I am doing wrong. I see positions advertised at different clinics and some of my colleagues have been offered employment at the same clinics that I also applied to, and yet I have not been called back. I am feeling frustrated by being side lined. I live in Austin Texas...!! Thank you all for lending me an ear. Also if any recruiters see this post, please contact me..to hire me. I am a mature, dedicated, loving, compassionate, hard worker. I never missed a day of schools for all the three years I was in college. I am always punctual, quick leaner and very professional. Oh...I make friends easily too....because I just love people. Great team player...who is into healthy living and healthy eating

If you know it's too soon then why ask what you are doing wrong? What you are doing wrong is comparing yourself to others. Who knows if your classmates cousin's wife works at the place you applied? Or who knows what she/he put on his résumé? Seriously, the nursing field is so over populated with nurses fighting for work & the more people who don't research others struggles here on AN, the more they are holding themselves back. If this is what you truly want, then you need to go get it. Have someone else review your 1 page resume & 1 page cover letter. Seriously consider moving out of state & look outside the box. There are jobs out there but they are hard to come by. Keep your head up & never give up, if this is what you want.

The problem is probably not you. . . it's the area in which you live. Austin is glutted with too many nurses and not enough jobs for everyone who would like to be working. Would you be willing to commute to Temple, College Station or some other area that tends to be more open to hiring new grads?

Looks like your resume is good enough to get you an interview. Check your interviewing technique.

Don't feel too bad. I went on four interviews before I landed my 1st LPN job at a detention center. It's rough but you will find a job :) At this point I feel (maybe it's just my area) that a lot of nursing homes are aiming to hire more RN's than LPN's. Although some of my classmates were successful in gaining employment in LTC, many of us landed jobs in jails, home health and clinics(mainly methadone clinics to be specific). Good luck out here! I know exactly how you feel.
Thank you, I appreciate your candid comment. Note to self stop comparing yourself to others...keep your chin up and keep the faith. Tomorrow will be better
My best critic...aka husband said the same. I plan on attending a class. Thank you so much..it easier to listen to a friend than your other half.
Thank you so much. I have a few more interviews line up.
The good thing is...I can relocate....so yes I will try outside Austin too. Thanks everyone !

Try the hill country of San Antonio!! There are many ERs opening here. New Braunfels has one opening soon & Schertz just opened one earlier this year. These are pretty close to Austin not too close but commutable I guess.
Good Luck!!

Thank you I appreciate your input and yes, I have to be thankful for what I already have, I was not complaining, but since this is a place of support, I was just sharing my thoughts
