New Graduate Looking For Job

U.S.A. New York

Published

For the last 2.5 years I have been in nursing school in Texas. I was born and raised in New York and want to return. However every where I calll has minimal positions or not hiring, or does not want new graduates. Here in Texas the sign on bonuses are great. I have talked to several hospitals in NY that dont even give them to new graduates. Does anyone know of any good hospitals to seek employment preferable in Manhattan or Long Island. Over here in Texas they will do anything for nurses, great benifits and lunchins ext. I am very disapointed for the past 5 years all I heard is what a demand there are for nurses and now there is no jobs. I also would like to add I am open to all positions, but would ultimately love a pedi-position.

Thanks

Hello..I'm new grad also.. living in NY...I've had my license for 2mths and have called EVERYWHERE and nothing as yet..but I've been told by many that by the new year things will start to look up for a change.. LIJ is a great system to get into they have great benefits, tution reinbursements, health coverage, etc.

My suggestion: stay in Texas and get a good 2 years experience as an RN under your belt---and if new grads are in great demand down there, you may find a hospital willing to train you in pediatrics. May I ask why you went to Texas for nursing school? Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I think that is going to be my worse case sceniro if I cant find a job. I went to Texas A&M. I was just trying to come home to be with my family.

I'm curious to know the sign-on bonuses in Tex. Could you give me a ballpark figure for sign-on bonuses?
