You want to no the scary part that was just for living expenses. When I finally got into the nursing program at NCC I was two and a half years in and I was offered a full scholarship to get my BSN in the same time. So I took that option but with all the books, reviews, rent, car, insurance, phone, food and summer traveling I had to do with my program thats what I ended up with. Its terrifying and whats sux even more if you default on a student loan repayment your RN license is rovoked. So hopefully by the time you guys graduate the market will be better.

That a wonderfull outlook on life, I hope you stay that way. But when you have $40,000 in student loans and no help what so ever it comes down to what you need to survive. Not what you want. By no means is this any discouragment but I may have thought twice if I realized scarce jobs were. Look at stats there more alarming then you imagine.

Believe or not 90% passage rate is terrible. I just graduated a school that had a 98% passaging rate and they wanted it higher. Schools don't get funding unless there passage rate is 97% passing or higher. I started the program at NCC and transferred its a very faulty program. For all of you who are dying to get into the program, evaluate your situation again. The job market for nurses in New York is dead. There are no nursing positions for new graduates. The demand lies in higher level management positions. Nursing is no longer the cake job that everyone imagines. I graduated at the top of my class and am currently unemployed along with many other NCC graduates. If I want to lie in NY I will have to a job at nursing home or doctors office.

how is the nursing school prespectives in Texas
The job market sucks!!!!!!!!! Consider a new field. No one wants to hire new nurses.

Nicu Med Test
Heres my advice leave the test alone or eliminate it. I am a new graduate just been through five years busting my ass and every hospital wants to give you tests. In my opinion if you make it through these rigorous nursing programs, you have proven yourself worth. How about using the time for addition teaching or a refresher. When it comes down to such precise medication equations everyone should double check with a calculator.

Seriously consider this is what you want. As much as everyone says nurses are in demand in NY they are not. I started at NCC and I cant find a job. The job market isnt what everyone thinks. There program is so ridiculous. Yeah its cheap and reputable but not all that in the end.

New Graduate Looking For Job
For the last 2.5 years I have been in nursing school in Texas. I was born and raised in New York and want to return. However every where I calll has minimal positions or not hiring, or does not want new graduates. Here in Texas the sign on bonuses are great. I have talked to several hospitals in NY that dont even give them to new graduates. Does anyone know of any good hospitals to seek employment preferable in Manhattan or Long Island. Over here in Texas they will do anything for nurses, great benifits and lunchins ext. I am very disapointed for the past 5 years all I heard is what a demand there are for nurses and now there is no jobs. I also would like to add I am open to all positions, but would ultimately love a pedi-position. Thanks Jessica
