Hi yall. I graduated nursing school with BSN in December 2017 and passed my NCLEX in March 2018. I've been continuously applying for a new grad job way before I graduated college and had no luck at finding one... Recently, I was actually offered a job at Medical City ER but they retracted my contract even after I accepted their job offer verbally and electronically because the manager changed her mind..... I was so thrilled to finally start my nursing career but now they did this to me and am very discouraged. It's becoming almost a year now since I graduated and it feels like I will never find a nursing job. Now I am not even getting any interviews at all.
I currently work as a server at a restaurant in the DFW (Texas) area. I'm trying not to lose hope and tried to apply for jobs in different states but no luck there either. I am so desperate that I will move or do anything if someone is willing to hire me. Or please let me know if there are any other career options for new grad nurses. I am willing to try anything. Please help.

Are you applying everywhere, or just for your "dream" job(s)? Is there something in your background that's scaring people off?
Hello. Yes I tried nursing home, home health etc. I have clean background and there really is no catch!

Maybe go through a temp agency to find your first job.

Temp agency positions are definitely not appropriate for a new grad with no experience.
I too live in DFW and the new grad job market here is extremely competitive. You are what is now referred to as an "old" new grad and you will have a very hard time getting any attention when compared to more recent new grads. Most of the major employers in DFW will not hire a nurse with no experience except through their internship or residency programs, which only happen a few times a year. There are more new grads than there are new grad jobs in DFW.
I would encourage you to reach out to the smaller and more rural community hospitals. Terrell. Sherman. Waxahachie. Witchita Falls. Temple. Tyler. Those places are more likely to be receptive. There are some pediatric home care agencies that will take new grads as well. Consider also moving to the Texas/Mexico border towns, where they are still giving hiring bonuses. Nobody wants to live there, so they have trouble finding candidates. Get hired, do your one to two years, then reapply in Dallas as an experience nurse and you will have your pick of jobs.
Good luck.

I don't know much about your area, but how is your resume? Would you like a spot check?

Look into the Tampa Florida area. Plenty of new grad jobs here- almost all hospitals have new grad residency programs.
