New grads at Children's?

Published

Hi I was just wondering if anyone was going to start working at Children's soon? Or if anyone works there now, how do you like it?

I start in Feb. :D

Hey :)

I did have the interview, it was easy except it was a panel interview with 3 people asking me questions. I think this made me more nervous and I felt that I didn't say everything about myself that I wanted to -like I forgot to say how I had IV experience as tech and that I am fluent in Spanish.

Its been 2 weeks since the interview and I have not heard back from them, but Im praying and hoping that I will get the job. Yesturday I called them to follow up but the people I interviewed with were not there that day. I did have an offer somewhere else for a job :D but ER at children's is still my #1 choice. When I called yesterday, I did let them know this because I would need an answer before I turn down or take up this offer that I have now.

Any suggestions on how to follow up? Thanks for the advice u posted here prior to the interview

I think you've done all the following up that is appropriate. A lot of times these things just require patience. I am actually going for a shadowing on the unit this week. Very excited since the hospital is so impressive. Did you guys get to shadow after an interview as well?

what is a shadowing??

the hospital is very impressive, i would be thrilled to work there.

You shadow a nurse on the unit for about five hours, to get a feel of the unit while I assume they get to feel out you.

wow that is really nice.

there was no mention of this during my interview. do let us know how that goes!

Looks like they're finishing up the interviews (for the ED) this week and will let candidates know next week. :)

The population was interesting, hem/onc complications, cerebral palsy complications, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). The staff were super nice and seemed really happy to have students there. This was all in the PICU of course....
