Hi! I am a new grad going to work in telemetry could someone please advise me on books or websites that will really help me understand and be able to read EKGS. Also any suggestions you have for me starting telemetry would be appreciated. Thanks!

Don't get too scared...lol. Your hospital should be including Telemetry teaching in your orientation. I would be surprised if they allow you to work in Telemetry without it.

randylarson.com as noted above is the bomb.
There are a lot of books and courses you can take to learn and improve EKG skills. Every three or four years I take another course as a refresher.
Here's a good course http://www.rnceus.com/course_frame.asp?exam_id=16&directory=ekg that I didn't take, but that I used to study because it gives the interventions, and on our tele unit we are tested on the interventions.
Good luck!

3rdShiftGuy & Lgflamini -- thanks much for posting those sites. I have clinicals on a telemetry unit this week and next week, and those were very helpful to take a peek at. :)
No problem! Just take it 1 step at a time, and you'll be fine. I remember how scared I was before I got the cert. It's not as hard as it looks- usually...lol. I still have a strip every now and then that I send down to CCU for clarification. :)

Here is a list of various sites for practicing ekg readings. Some are about the pathyphysiology of the heart some are fairly broad cardiac sites and some are more specific...Anyway, I would suggest taking a basic ekg class and then lots of practice, the more you see it the easier it gets... Good luck!
