New grad RN miami - anyone hiring?

I just graduated and passed the NCLEX. I have my RN license in FL now, but can't seem to get hired. Baptist and UM will only hire RN's with at least 1 year experience. I applied at MCH, Mercy, and North shore medical center. I am still waiting to hear back from them all. Any suggestions? I feel so useless sitting at home with my brand new license!! HELP!

i heard that every first tuesday of each month there is a job fair at mount sinai.. hope that helps

Yes, I heard the same about Mount Sinai. Every Tuesday is open house job fair. Be prepared for a possible onsite interview. I'm also a new grad & recently got my license this April 2011 and I've been applying ever since. I just got a job with Memorial Regional L&D dept. Which is amazing because for a new grad with no RN experience to get a job there is amazing. They were my first choice....I applied there initially and got denied....after that I would go on every hospital website daily and apply to anything I could. I just happen to stumble upon this 6month perinatal internship program Memorial was offering to new grads! It had only been posted on their job site earlier that day. So I believe timing is everything. I must of filled out 100 applications and I only got one interview and I got the job. The pay is decent, the benefits are awesome, & the staff there are some of the best I've encountered. Keep applying & don't give up faith! :-)

I read that they aren't hiring but still continue having the open houses

How recently did you hear that??? I had a friend of mine who just graduated last year get hired with them within the last month or so.

it says on their website.. did your friend have experience? i had an interview with them & the lady said I did well & to apply for my fl license.. i applied but never heard from her again.. that just made me feel :(

I'm back in ca now.. I hears about their open house & flew out there for an interview on a different day.. Ya I'm staying positive.. Just hoping that hr lady wasn't just telling me things that were falsified in terms of a second interview and how well I did at the interview

Hi, can I ask you if you were a MHS scholars> because I want to apply but all those intership they says that are only for their scholars??

No, they had one every three months now...however they don't have date for the next yet...you can check it on their website... I went to the last one... they are not hiring at this moment, at least that is what the HR lady said...the open house it is just for future opening...I'm also a new grad trying to find a job in Miami...good luck everyone!!!!

Finally someone said, go to apply as a CNA at Jackson Hosp, that was thirty days ago, but even so I'm still waiting, hard to believe, only in Miami. But do not give up, good luck....[/h]
