Hi guys!
I was wondering if anybody had plans on applying to new grad residencies here in Georgia for the summer/fall of 2016. I graduate in May 2016, so I have now started looking for residencies to apply to. I have created a long list of hospitals that I am interested in. Anybody else considering applying? If so, what hospitals? Maybe we can keep each other updated throughout the process.

I am graduating the same time as you. I plan on applying to Piedmont, Emory, Grady, Northside, Dekalb, Kennestone, Gwinnett and Northeast. What about you? Have you found anything about when the applications open up? The earliest I could find was March.
I plan on applying to all of the same ones. It's kind of hard trying to keep up with when the application periods will open, but I did e-mail someone from Piedmont and they said the applications will open at the beginning of February. I am unsure about the rest.
I also e-mailed the contact person listed for Gwinnett because the website said applications for August had already closed. I'm assuming they're referring to August 2015 applications? I was a bit confused by that. Still waiting on a response.

I am graduating at the same time and plan to apply to residency programs for summer, too. I believe the GMC August app was for the winter residency. I am planning to apply to Eastside, Northeast GA, Northside, Piedmont, Emory, Gwinnett, and the Savannah-area hospitals. I have family there and wouldn't mind going back.

Hi all
I am finishing up nursing school in May 2016. I am in North Carolina at the moment but used to live in Atlanta (Midtown area) and my wife wants to head home. I have not really done much research at this point. Can anyone give me an idea of what starting salary for new grads is in the Atlanta area?
Thanks for any help and good luck to all. I will post if I find any info that has not already been shared.

23ish/HR as base pay, differential varies depends on which hospital.

GMC has a massive application interview thing in the early spring each year. In February apply, April massive interview, then personal interview
Thanks mgfam.

From what I hear Piedmont pays the best for new grads. I am currently in the residency program at Piedmont and I started out at just under $26/hour. Also, I started on November 9th and received a christmas bonus 2 weeks later, which was a nice plus. So far I am pleased with the program and I recommend anyone in the area to consider applying!
Thanks for the info! Piedmont has always been one of my top choices, so I'm definitely going to apply.
Just to update, GMC's application period will open around the first week in January! Not too far from now.
