New Grad positions, is anyone in WI hiring?

U.S.A. Wisconsin

Hi,

I am graduating from a BSN accelerated program in Green Bay and am looking to move preferrably to Madison. I am open to moving to Milwaukee or even central Wisconsin. It doesn't look like there are many jobs open right now. Does anyone know who is hiring and possibly what the starting pay is?

Apply to Froedtert. The competition is tough, but they are hiring new grads on the med/surg floors. Make sure your application is up to date and your resume has all of your information on it.

I just checked their website this morning and didn't see any med/surg. I'll check again. Thanks

Hi All,

I will be starting at MSOE this fall and I am interested in doing a nursing internship if possible at Kenosha Medical Center or St.Catherine's( preferably). Did hear a couple of months ago St. Cath's is trying to get Level 1 status. I would eventually like to be an ER nurse. Does anyone know around what the starting pay is for the internship. I interviewed with this hospital several years ago and was offered a position but had to turn it down. They gave me a pamphlet on their full/part-time nursing internship program. I would be intersted in doing it full-time after I have completed a semester of clinicals.

Also, roughly what do they pay if you get hired on after finishing nursing school? I just always wondered why they have so many open positions as it relates to nursing jobs. Not sure if it's because the pay is low or a high turnover due to management.

Appreciate your feedback.

i know at aurora externs get 15.50 an hour and starting pay for new rn's is 23.35.i also have a friend who was in my class that was an extern in the ed and got hired upon graduation. good luck:)

As a recent new grad who was a nurse intern at kenosha memorial hospital aka kmcc, I can tell you that interns make about 14 an hour and then 23.75 as a GN/RN. I would recommend united over wheaton/aurora personally though as I found the staff and professionalism to be higher but there are NO plans I know of that St Cats or kenosha campus will be level 1. I worked briefly as an ER new grad nurse last month at kmcc but left because I accepted a position @ Froedtert Hospital in trauma :D!!!! If you're lucky enough to get an interview TAKE IT. I graduated a 2 year nursing school and make much better money than united, do the 7/70 one week on and off schedule, better benefits and work in a level 1 trauma/ magnet hospital associated with medical college of WI. It is awesome!

indreams84, did you happen to take CHA2 in Burlington last semester?

No I did not. All kenosha.

Where did you hear this? I haven't heard anything to this affect. I do know they are getting an ob/gyn and pediatric unit but I have not heard anything about them getting level 1 status. I believe froedert is the only level 1 hospital in WI.

I have a friend who's granddaughter works at St. Catherines' as a nurse. She was asked about getting her certification for TNCC as they were looking to apply for Level 1 status. This may have been put on the back burner but they were looking at it.

Specializes in Critical Care, Trauma, Transplant.

UW Hospitals and Clinics in Madison is also a Level 1 Center.

Is nursing is so much demand that you need to import nurses in WI? I can tell you in my home state of MA, nurses are looking for employment should, MA nurses be looking in your area ?

I really don't think so.....I think WI nurses are having a hard enough time getting jobs. I know someone who graduated last May and just got a job last month (and she wasn't picky!).

Specializes in Intermediate care.

UW-Health, Madison is a level 1.
